Strong and fast...
Strong and fast tire, I roll over glass and don't even worry about it. These tires can handle speed with no problem, I regularly spin these things at 65-70 kmh on my way home. Low noise too. If you have a hard tail these tires absorb a lot of the bumps from the road. I would reccomend this tire to anyone that spends most of their time on concrete/asphalt or very hard pack.

It's excellent
It's excellent. I use this at a sk8 park with a motor some times doing over 70 km/h(45 m/h) I've done 96km/h (58.5 m/h) on these and they keep the grip well. I've only had to pump the tires up once a month due to such harsh conditions.

I grew up riding 20"...
I grew up riding 20" freestyle bikes (still have my Eastern Bike) in the street, trails, ramps, you name it. Never really into MTB. Know that i am an old fogie and can't lift my 20" like i used to, i bought a cheapo MTB to commute with...get my juices flowin again. Imagine my delight when i found a tire fit for a freestyle bike to put on my 26". The difference between knobbies and these is unreal. I swear i feel like i'm back on my freestyle bike. They roll smooth, provide tons of cushion, and grip with confidence. I'm taking the Primo V-monsters off my freestyle and getting 20" hookworms! Buy'em!

Just the tire I have...
Just the tire I have been searching for the last few years..My preference for a commute bike is a single speed mountain bike (Bianchi s.i.s.s.) This tire is sturdy, and a real pleasure to ride, especially after years of riding on knobby tires. Its smooth, slick and fast, great on pavement.

Awesome Tyre
I used these tyres (26er) to convert my Scott Spark 60 to an urban tank as part of my rehab for a broken leg. They went easily onto my spare wheelset and voila im getting back to strength on the road. They roll SO WELL and are perfect for using my mtb as a road trainer until i can handle bumby trails again. Really love them. I hate the look of thin tyres on an mtb it just doesnt look right, so these were nice and fat and looked the part.

Awesome tire
Great on asphalt not so hot off road but that should be obvious. The tires roll very fast and smooth like a luxury vehicle. They almost look like a motorcycle tire. You pay a weight penalty tho you can really feel the difference. These tires are totally worth it if you ride alot of asphalt, stairs , curbs etc. I'm sure all the added rubber will help protect your rims and they look great!

PROS: Looks, Low Rolling Resistance, Ride

CONS: Weight

BEST USES: Street commute, Turns Heads

Put these tires on both my Bianchi single speed bicycles, about nine years ago. They are still with me and I have enjoyed every aspect of the tire. Great tire! I commute, and my bicycles are strictly for transportation.

I bought these after...
I bought these after lugging 2.7 (soft durometer) maxxis minions all over the place. I ride to the spots im gonna hit, i dont drive there, so i need a big volume tire that i can still pedal across town on. My old downhill tires werent cutting it, they were great for drops and landings, but the other 90% of the time i was on my bike they were killing me. These new hookworms fit the bill. I couldnt believe how fast they were when i first put them on. My Bullit feels like a big BMX bike now! These are way wide too. Everybody is always like "DAG! those are wide!". I wish there were more options in this tire catagory. Seems like these and Kenda K-rads are the only hardcore street tires out there. HELLO TIRE MANUFACTURES-make some rad street tires. Take just about ANY bmx tire and make it 26" and 2.7 wide with a heavy duty casing and thats what im looking for. Think of a hookworm mixed with a Minion. Until then the hookworm is good.

tough reliable tire
very tough street tire with thick rubber on both tread and sidewall, excelent for commuting and cruizing on pavement.they will last foever and not give you any trouble at all.
rubber is heavy and these tires have lots of it,the weight is very noticeable when accelerating braking and cornering.
if you are looking for a performance tire for racing,stunts/tricks or skate park you may want to look at the intense mk2,that weigh less than half what these do and have better grip but the thin soft rubber of the mk2 also make them prone to punctures and sidewall damage and they dont last very long.
the hookworms are super tough and will get you home every time for many years but you proberbly wont win any races on these but after you've destroyed your race tires these will still be there.

do these tires fit both front and back rims on a se big ripper? and which size tubes do these require?
A shopper on Dec 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The SE Big Ripper is a 29er so you would need to get the 29x2.5" tires. We believe that the SE Big Ripper frame can accommodate a 2.5" tire, but you would want to measure to be certain. As for tubes, you would want a minimum of a 29x2.3" tube. While tubes can stretch, it is better to get tubes that are as close to your tire size as possible.

My 29er is equipped with tubeless ready rims. I'm currently running tubes though because my current tires' sidewalls have some worn spots and won't hold air.

Will these work well without tubes, with sealant on tubeless rims? I've never run anything except for kevlar beaded tires tubeless. Not sure how well it would work w/ wire beads...
29erCommuter on Sep 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure, we always use the Avenir tubes in ours.
Will this fit a Stan's Flow Ex rim? Can't tell if it's only for fatbikes. Thanks.
Chris on May 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi Chris, yes these will fit a Stan's Flow Ex rim. These are not fatbike specic. Just make sure to choose the correct wheel size.

I hope this helps!
What size tunes would one use, brand? Thanks
