Comments about Continental Trail King Protection 26X2.2:

So I read great reviews on these tires and as they are for my secondary bike I thought that they would be a good investment. I ride on weekends in New York so it's a mix of rocks roots and earth - sounds like a job for Chili compound.
I got the tires, installed them and it turned out that both were untrue. Reinstalled them three times, thinking I made a mistake but each time it wobbled a lot. Checked my rims and then read stuff online. That's how I figured out that tires can be untrue... which is the case here.
I rode them hoping the rubber would break in and that it would balance out but that didn't happen and it made for some awful riding - bike was all wobbly. Tried contacting Continental customer service - have yet to hear from them. Totally disappointed as I'm stuck with an unridable bike now.

Comments about Continental Trail King Protection 26X2.2:

Seeing as it is still the winter months I cannot give a total view as of yet. They arrived on time and in excellent condition. Install was a snap & I still utilize tubes.
I purchased the 2.2 and they fit perfect, leaving just the right amount of space for shedding mud and debris. As mentioned on other reviews they do seem to be equivalent to other brands 2.3-2.4.
I have ridden a couple times out in the snow to get a feel of what to expect once the season begins in a few more weeks. If they are as good as what they were in the white stuff then I am going to be ripping lines and cruising flow like never before.

Comments about Continental Trail King Protection 26X2.2:

Ran this 2.2 on the rear of my Pivot Firebird. The casing is pretty big for a 2.2. Tire grips like crazy on loose rock, sand over hard pack, and dust. It's super durable and looks pretty awesome.

I ran the 2.4 on the front and it was HUGE, but didn't notice a weight impact. It was about 0.5" larger diameter than previous tires I had run. Width was probably usual 2.4-2.5.

Comments about Continental Trail King Protection 26X2.2:

I have this currently on the front of an agressive hardtail. The trails i usually ride are near a quarry, and thus have very sharp rocks. I was using Nevegals, which i liked, and were cheap, but i tore sidewalls alot. The TKs have much thicker sidewalls, and I havnt had a problem with them this season. The tread seems to hold up well, is very grippy, and sheds mud decently. I would say that the only downside is price, although jenson seems to have the 2.2s way cheaper than anywhere else. I am likely to put a 2.4 TK protection on the front and move the 2.2 to the back. I don't understand why the 2.4 is $15 dollars more expensive.

Comments about Continental Trail King Protection 26X2.2:

Short Summary: Buy if you want grip, avoid if you want durability.

Bought these as an upgrade to my other tires that were on my stumpjumper based on all the great reviews that I read about them, mainly durability minded. I will say they are quite the grippy tire when it come to hard pack, loose over hard, dry conditions and on rock. Being in Colorado, I really do not have the chance to ride that much is wet conditions, so I cannot say much about that. The Protection sidewalls do their thing when it comes to riding through rocky areas and I have had not problems with flatting out (I still run tubes). My gripe comes with the durability that I strongly desired; After three rides (about 20 miles) over hard pack with some rock mixed in, I noticed that some of the center treads had come off and that some of the outer treads were hanging on, with half the rubber split. I contacted Continental about this and they have yet to reply. With all the rave reviews, I would have expected more. I will probably go with a different tire next time.

            Inflates tubeless with no problems.
            Rolls well and grips great.
The 2.4 in front is a great match
