Jamis Dakar XCR 29 Pro MTB 2012

Photo is for illustration purposes only. You will be shipped a complete bike with the components listed below.

Jamis bicycles has a long history of innovating revolutionary bikes. This dates all the way back to 1979, when Jamis introduced the Earth Cruiser. The Earth Cruiser helped to spark the beach cruiser revolution which has been a part of beach-city culture ever since. This revolution hasn’t stopped, Jamis has merely shifted focus to other forms of two wheeled machines. Today Jamis develops and produces top of the line Road and Mountain bikes. Leveraging their 30+ years of experience, Jamis is able to craft Race driven performance, as well as high quality trickle down products for the average rider. Jamis has a goal to build the perfect bike, which might be an impossible goal, however to Jamis, it’s the only one worth doing.

The Dakar XCR 29 Pro is a race ready full suspension cross-country mountain bike, geared to deliver you to the top step of the podium. Most other factory race bikes aim to be either lightweight or stiff, while the Dakar XCR 29 Pro accomplishes both. It starts by laying the foundation with a full high modulus carbon frame, stays and bell crank, providing core stiffness and keeping weight to a bare minimum. The soul of the XCR 29 Pro is the fully-active, sturdy mp4 XC suspension design, with travel narrowed down to a firmly sprung, hyper-efficient 100mm which delivers a slight rising leverage rate in the first 40% of travel and then is linear through the next 60mm of travel to enable a firm, responsive platform that keeps the rear tire planted for enhanced pedal efficiency and grip. Up front the Dakar XCR 29 Pro is equipped with Rock Shox SID RL 29 with 100mm of travel that features low speed compression to “locked” suspension.

With a SRAM S1400 crankset, PC-1051 chain and cassette, and PressFit 30 integrated bottom bracket, the drive train on this race horse is set up to make sure the jockey has maximum power transfer enabling rapid acceleration. The brain power of the drivetrain comes from the SRAM X9 rear derailleur and X7 front derailleur, which provide optimum shifting efficiency for when the trail takes on a more technical form.

The Dakar XCR 29 Pro rolls on American Classic Tubeless 29 Disc wheels which are strong, lightweight, and fast. Tubeless wheels mean two things, no tube weight, and no pinch flats! The beastly 15mm front thru axle and 12mm rear hub make this already stiff ride even stiffer. The fast paced pandemonium of mountain bike racing frequently calls for premium stopping power, which is why Jamis went with the Avid Elixir 5 hydraulic disc brakes.

Awesome bike! Corners well. Rolls right over roots and rocks - I converted tires to tubeless. Lightweight - great on hill climbs. Stable and fast on downhills. Love it!

Comments about Jamis Bicycles Jamis Dakar XCR 29 Pro MTB 2012:

The 17" feels a little smaller and not as stretched out as I expected with a cross country bike. But...

This bike just rolls faster on singletrack. The suspension lacks just a little bit when climbing compared to a hardtail. The bike has performed well on narrow singletrack (except for handlebar width, but that is easy to change), regular singletrack and dirt roads. The X9 performs fine on the shifting chores, the clutch keeps the bike quiet, and the maxlelite is much better than the old thin quick releases. Lastly, the American classic wheels with the geax tires are light and roll very efficiently.

Comments about Jamis Bicycles Jamis Dakar XCR 29 Pro MTB 2012:

-Doesn't get much better than this for a great quality full suspension carbon XC 29er and components at an excellent price.
-Bought the bike about 6-7 mos. ago and haven't had any issues with me at 225 lbs. on mostly XC terrain.
-Only issue I had is the bronze assembly from Jenson was not much of a tune up. Had many loose parts and issue with shifter line so had to get it tuned up locally. However, Jenson offered to reimburse me for the tune up.
-My experience of the customer service from Jenson has been top notch.
