Focus Cayo Evo 3.0 Compact 2013

These days, it can be said that racing bicycles has become the new golf. We’ve all seen a “Race” bike where every square inch is made up of feather-weight carbon fiber (including the bottle cages), everything on the bike has been aerodynamically designed to reduce the wind drag coefficient, and the drivetrain is… well, robotic. We’ve also looked through the window and seen the price tag on these engineering marvels we call road bikes. For the privateer racer and/or cycling enthusiast, dropping $5,000+ for something that doesn’t pedal itself can be unrealistic and downright blasphemous, and unless you’re a sponsored pro, you seek a steed to do it all. Do yourself a favor and take a gander at the Focus Cayo Evo 3.0.

Perhaps, you train and race regularly, but also enjoy the occasional conversational coffee shop ride or century for a good cause, the Focus Cayo Evo 3.0 is a rock-solid, performance-driven machine that delivers a high-end end build that can win a road race or two, or three, and then get you comfortably through a Gran Fondo. However, when it’s all said and done, the Cayo Evo is a full-blown race horse which offers an aggressive, chiseled frame that can sprint, corner, climb, and descend with bikes that are double the cost. On top of the race-ready geometry, the Cayo Evo frame is packed full of top-end design features such as: a liquid-shaped designed top tube, lateral reinforced comfort seat stays, a tapered head tube, integrated cable adjusters, internal cable routing, full carbon dropouts, and a PF30 bottom bracket.

Built up with SRAM’s race winning Force group, the Cayo Evo 3.0’s drivetrain performance would be right at home amongst the pro peloton. Force is the workhorse of SRAM’s road component lineup, offering the vast majority of the performance as the top-tier SRAM Red group at a fraction of the cost. The Cayo Evo 3.0’s SRAM Force build includes brakes, shifters, front and rear derailleurs, crankset, and cassette. The Force crankset features beautiful 6k carbon woven arms and an integrated carbon spider design with aluminum chainrings, keeping things both light and stiff for race-crushing power transfer. The Force rear derailleur employs SRAM’s Exact Actuation technology for fast, accurate shifts, and a carbon fiber cage to shed some precious grams. Featuring DoubleTap technology, the Force shifters accomplish up and downshifts in one short, sweet, sweeping motion, requiring minimal effort no matter where you are on the bars, as well as eliminating the unwieldy and awkward engagement associated with two-lever systems.

3T takes control of the front end with an ARX Team stem and an Ergonova Pro handlebar that has a flat top, providing a wider top surface for the hands, offering a relaxed grip when sitting up on a climb. The Fulcrum WH-CPX 1700 wheelset boasts a medium 35mm deep profile for a formidable blend of speed, control, and sturdiness. For the tires, Focus kept things German, rounding out (no pun intended) the Cayo Evo 3.0 with Continental Grand Prix 24mm tires.

If you’re looking for a new ride to tackle weekend crits and turn heads, the Focus Cayo Evo 3.0 is an obvious choice. Carbon frame and fork, SRAM Force drivetrain, 3T components, 16 pounds out of the box; the Cayo Evo 3.0 holds its own.

Comments about Focus Cayo Evo 3.0 Force CP Bike 2013:

Researched all the bikes from italians to US major players and Cayo topped them all. Been a specialized and cannondale rider for quite some time, but this Cayo changed me immediately after my first ride. It's like riding a BMW automobile, smooth and effortless through climbs, flats, and corners. You'll never switch again after you have this machine.

Comments about Focus Cayo Evo 3.0 Force CP Bike 2013:

I just got this bike so I've only had a chance to do 1 ride of 30 miles. It was an amazing ride. The bike is rigid enough to get the power to the ground when you take off but still provides a comfortable smooth ride.
I did flip over my stim when I got it because it came with the 17% side in use and I wanted a more aggressive position.
This was an upgrade from my older Trek aluminum frame/fork because I felt like I was being beaten up on rides of 40+ miles. After 30 on this I couldn't even tell I had been riding it feels so great.
I bought it with 60+ mile rides in mind and was a little afraid it would be to aggressive/rigid but I couldn't be happier I made the decision to buy it. It's the perfect combination of aggressive and comfortable.
The bike is awesome looking too, which shouldn't be your deciding factor for buying a bike but it's definitely a bonus.
I didn't weigh the frame until I had my gear on it so not sure how close the the reported 16.3 for a L it is. Mine with loaded medium seat bag and bottle cages weighs in at 18.4lbs.
      Highly recommend this bike.

Comments about Focus Cayo Evo 3.0 Force CP Bike 2013:

I bought this bike to replace my Giant Defy Advanced and was a bit concerned about the riding position. After chatting for almost an hour with Chris G. we simply added an adjustable stem. The bike fits me perfectly now and man...what a ride. It's nice and light and smooth and it flies. My average speed is up. With Sram components, the bike shifts smoothly and after a few miles, the double tap system works just fine after using Shimano for years. The Fulcrum wheels are awesome, in fact, the whole bike is visually stunning. No corners cut here...the paint and clearcoat are perfect. Just an amazing bike. I guess you can tell I'm pleased.

Comments about Focus Cayo Evo 3.0 Force CP Bike 2013:

I really enjoy riding this bike. The bike is very fast and it makes the hills melt away. The bike is very light, but it is very rigid. The ride is exactly as all of the online reviews say - very comfortable. From a frame design perspective, the cable routing is very well designed. Everything about the bike is very sharp and well designed.

The SRAM Force is a nice upgrade (quality and smooth mechanics) for me coming from a Shimano 105 (circa 2001). The brakes are very good. The wheels are very nice. Overall, I am very happy with the bike and don't see anything that needs to be changed.

first purchase from Jenson. I use this bike for training and road races. Focus build quality bikes and the frame and fork are very compliant and confidence inspiring. paint work and gen attention to detail is excellent. Sram Force is best value for performance out there...positive and slick. it's 10 speed but honestly I don't know what I'd do with another gear. Fulchrum wheels are very solid and a bit heavy at 1700+ grams. have done 500+ miles and love it every time.
