Since its arrival on the scene in 2003 the Yeti 575 has been a fan favorite, known for its handling and versatility on the trail. Lightweight with loads of travel make the 575 a joy on the descents while the progressive geometry and optimized suspension provide a stable platform for the climbs. In an effort to constantly improve their designs, the 575 has joined the 650b movement, bringing a modern mountain craze to a legendary trail machine.
Boasting classic Yeti geometry with frame features of a true trail bike gives the updated 575 a familiar feel while the 27.5” wheels and newly optimized rear suspension provide a more plush and comfortable ride, still. A slacker head tube angle, longer top tube, and a lower bottom bracket are features that originated from Yeti’s gravity background, but they feel right at home on the 575, providing confidence on any descent. Other key trail bike features include a press-fit bottom bracket, hydro-formed aluminum tubing, oversized chain stays for durability and stiffness, not to mention an ISCG 05 tab for all your chain guide needs.
The suspension on the 575 uses Yeti’s Dogbone link which simultaneously controls the leverage ratio curve and structurally reduces flex of the rear swing arm. The leverage ratio curve determines the feel of the suspension throughout its travel, allowing a soft and plush feeling at the beginning of the travel with a stiffer feel towards the end. The leverage ratio curve is carefully selected to best suite the frame, intended shock type, and riding style (XC, AM, DH, etc.). Optimizing this leverage ratio curve is a tedious task, yet the finished product is what sets Yeti trail bikes apart from the rest.
The Yeti 575 Race XT Bike features an impressive component spec that is ideal for racers and trail riders alike. Fox is well known within the industry for producing high end suspension components that are easy to setup and use. Therefore, it was only logical that Yeti chose to incorporate the Fox 34. The Fox 34 features 150mm of plush, smooth, Kashima coated suspension. The 15mm axle and tapered head tube ensure the front end is stiff, helping maintain excellent steering, especially when riding winding single track or switchbacks. Shimano XT is known as the workhorse of the brand. Shimano XT components are built to be tough, without tipping the scale. The Shimano XT 10 speed drivetrain provides smooth, accurate, and fast shifting. There will be no sloppy shifts with Shimano XT. DT Swiss 350/XM LTD wheels are lightweight, for low rotational weight which helps keep momentum with less energy loss. An Easton Haven carbon handlebar and Thomson cockpit round out this build, making it the perfect blend of quality, weight, strength, and speed.
