This fork bent very easily during normal riding. Im not a downhill or dirt jumper. Just an average cross country rider. I hung up my front wheel on a root at average trail speed and the fork bent backwards. Only had it for a couple months. Buy a Surly 1x1 fork. Much thicker steel and twice as durable. Weak sauce Salsa...
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I, like the other reviewer, bought this for use on an older steel frame that is living a second life as a commuter.
The fork has held up to rain, snow and slush without scratching or pitting. The paint is quite durable.
I have never ridden the fork off road, so I cannot attest to it's trail-worthiness, but judging by it's stiffness, it probably rides well.
At 1100 grams it's no lightweight.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I put one of these (425mm axle to crown)on a mountain bike frame from the 90's. It replaces a 60-65mm travel fork perfectly without changing the geometry of the bike. The welds look very nice, and the paint seems to be durable (so far). The forward facing dropouts take a little getting used to but look very nice. These forks track nicely and don't have much flex, gerat for xc riding, would probably be sweet on a rigid singlespeed build too.
