I use this on a Honda Fit and without the bikes on it the thing looks like it was custom made for this car size wise...I have carried my cross bike with no issues..my xc bike with no issues...but the bikes wobble in it no matter how hard we cinch the straps down..we have resorted to using old toe straps as added straps to keep things stable..the strap mechanism as simple as it looks can be a pain as they sometimes stick and you have to work at it to get them to release..mine only came with three straps in the box and one of the orange looking plugs on the metal part of the thing fell off after one use..this is not my main bike rack and just needed something for the little Honda..as soon as I can find a better rack for that vehicle I will be getting another rack..
I would not use this rack on a long trip...
