Schwalbe Big One 27.5" Tire
Our friends in The Netherlands have it all figured out when it comes to year round passion for mountain bike racing. Like most of the world, the absence of snow during the summer naturally makes it the prime time for MTB competitions in the Netherlands. Unlike most of the world, instead of packing it in for the winter, Dutch mountain bikers flock to their beaches as the next venue for MTB racing. As beach racing becomes more and more common around the world, Schwalbe designed the Big One tire specifically for kicking out wattage on the sandy shores. Combining massive volume, small knobs, a minimal weight and the latest Tubeless Easy technology, the Big One offers low rolling resistance while maintaining a wide footprint that maintains speed and stability in the sand. Perhaps you live nowhere near a beach. These tires are also great in dry, sandy regions.
- Evolution technology offers clear benefits in terms of speed, comfort, grip and puncture protection for recreationalists and enthusiasts alike
- SnakeSkin compound assures cut-resistance on sidewalls and extremely easy tubeless conversion
- Claimed to have the lowest rolling resistance ever by Schwalbe

These were super easy to install on a set of WTB i35 Scraper rims, though owning a compressor probably made that job far easier than a hand pump. As well, the tape used to seal the rim (probably done by WTB) has a very slick backing that allowed the beads to slide easily under pressure. Might be tough on a wide rim sealed with something like Gorilla Tape.
Seated tires, pulled the valve core, dropped in 4 ounces of sealant each tire, replaced the valve core, inflated until tire had a solid structure and spun the wheels by hand for a few minutes to distribute. Inflated to final psi and rode a few miles. Next several days of checking, no loss of pressure.
These tires make it really easy to keep much of the same riding style while I'm riding urban routes. I like to have fun on the way to work and hop obstacles, curbs etc.
Frankly, they're the only "slick" tread tires I could find for 35mm rims to stay within the ISO recommendations. Didn't want to buy a wheelset and components just for changing tires.
