The Dirty Dan earned its name after becoming Danny Hart's (2011 Downhill World Champion) tire of choice for muddy conditions. When the skies have descended on the ground and the soil turns to deep, sticky mud, the Dirty Dan's tall blocks and VertStar Compound bite into the soft, loose terrain, allowing you to hold your lines and corner with confidence. The knobs are strategically spaced with large gaps to allow the Dan to shed mud build-up while improving braking traction. When the gradients turn for the daunting, Dan's "Curve Claws" remain in control.
This tire provides really good traction in mud and surprisingly seems to hold up pretty will over wet rocks and roots. The lugs have a fairly wide base so these tires don't feel as squirmy on hard surfaces. Between this, the Specialized Storm, and the Wet Scream, I would choose this tire no question.
