Schwalbe Hans Dampf 26" Tire

Schwalbe Hans Dampf 26" Tire

As a jack-of-all-trades, the Hans Dampf is fine tuned to provide control and comfort. The grippy TrailStar compound option provides traction and control when cornering, making it an ideal front tire option, while the PaceStar option offers a lower rolling resistance for more speed, making it perfect for the rear wheel. Both tire options employ the light and robust SnakeSkin sidewall that’s resistant to tearing, easy to fit and tubeless ready. Pair the two together and you’ve got a quintessential do-all, go-anywhere trail arrangement.

Compounds and Technologies

  • PaceStar: Extremely fast XC compound. Easy rolling base layer (base), Fast center (medium), and Grippy shoulders (medium soft).
  • SnakeSkin: lightweight layer of fabric to protect against sidewall cuts. Perfect for rocky terrain.
  • TrailStar: Enduro & Freeride compound. Easy rolling base layer (base), Grippy center (medium soft), and Extra-grippy shoulders (soft).
  • Super Gravity: New 4 layer carcass construction provides support and protection without adding too much weight. The whole tire (not just the sidewalls) features a layer of SnakeSkin fabric to added protection.

Features

  • Size: 26" x 2.35"
  • Weight: 760g +/- 50g
  • PSI: 23 - 50
  • EPI: 67

Really good All Mountain tire
These tires came on a new bike purchase I got about a year ago. I run Kenda Excavators on my other bike, a hardtail XC/All mountain bike, and was fairly satisfied with that tire but these Schwalbe Hans Dampf tires are much better. They grip really well on climbs and in turns. On the soft stuff (sand) they give you a chance to avoid washing out.

This was a replacement for the back tire that was showing signs of wear. The front looks pretty good still but when that starts to show too much wear, I won't hesitate to replace that with another Hans Dampf either.

Also, these tires really seem to resist thorns. I run both Slime Tubes and StopFlat tape because I don't like dealing with flats but noticed that I hardly ever have to pull out any thorns with these tires. My other tires don't get flats because of the setup I run, but I still have to pull plenty of thorns out of them. That's not the case with these.

The only negative I can really say about them is they are pricey and a little heavy, but performance wise, they are top notch.

PROS: Attractive Design, Durable

CONS: Heavy

BEST USES: Mountain Biking, Upgrade

Great Tire
Bought these tires to replace my Continental Mountain King II. These are so much better for the trials I ride here in Orange County, CA area. They hook up nice, and don't seem to be showing signs on wear, even after beating them up on the San Juan, Car Wreck and Rock It Trails. Love these tires. Glad I made the switch!

PROS: Easy To Install, Attractive Design, Lightweight, Durable

Dependable all mountain grip
Used this tire both front and rear for all mountain riding. Found it provides a great balance between grip and rolling resistance. Nice large volume, not terribly heavy and relatively inexpensive.

PROS: Relatively Inexpensive, Good Traction, Attractive Design, Durable

Great tire!
I've been using Hans Dampf for a while and like them quite a bit. These or Minion DHF are my go to tires!

Amazing tires
These tires are the benchmark in the AM category for their excellent grip, light weight, and amazing cornering performance. When at the limit of traction the tires progressively slide making them easy to control. I like these more than the Minnion DHF for AM riding.

PROS: Excellent Grip, Tough and light, Low Rolling Resistance

BEST USES: Extreme XC, AM light freeride

Great tire
I mounted this on the front. Lots of traction in the corners in all sorts of trail conditions. Love this tire so much I purchased it for my 29er too. I would get again too. The tire popped up quick for tubeless. I would totally recommend.
