Schwalbe Hans Dampf 29" Tire

Schwalbe Hans Dampf 29" Tire

The Hans Dampf made its debut at the Sea Otter Classic and critics raved that it set new standards in rubber. "Hans Dampf" is German for "jack of all trades", and this tire will make mincemeat of many different types of terrain, from slickrock to hardpack to loose, loamy soil. The key to Hans Dampf's versatility is strong sidewalls and grippy lugs, as well as fast Pacestar compound. Pacestar is unique in that Schwalbe combined three different rubber compounds to create a fast rolling tread center, and grippy shoulder lugs whilst maximizing tire life. Finally, Hans Dampf is tubeless ready, so just add sealant to the tire (paired with an appropriate tubeless-compatible rim) and enjoy the benefits of high puncture protection, low rolling resistance, and the ability to run lower pressures.

Best 29er Tire I have Ridden Yet
i finally splurged and bought this tire brand new. i have never paid this much for a tire. after todays ride i am so glad i did. i took it to the super steep DH single tracks of the verdugo's where its loose over hard pack and traction is hard to find. it stuck way better than the spechy purgatory it replaced, and other tires i have ridden on: captains, ardents, ignitors, mountain kings. i only put it on the front and was running an ardent in the rear but it blows the ardent away as far as traction so i am going to buy another one and put it on the rear as well. this tire made my riding so much more fun and safe today.

A large sticky tire
I used Jensons price match on these tires and saved big! That's rare since hardly anyone ussually beats Jenson's prices. Thanks Jenson! These tires were not in stock so they took about 10 days to get. Didn't need them right away so that was ok. I was getting pretty spoiled with recieving my orders within 24 - 48 hours anyway.

Jenson is awesome!

PROS: Excellent Grip, Attractive Design, Front Tire Only, Easy To Install, Excellent Braking

Using Hans Dampf Snake Skin 29x2.35 as a front tire. There is nothing this tire can't do. I feel 99% safer, faster in corners and all together better with this tire compared to: Nevegal, Conti Trail King, Conti Mountain King, WTB Nano Raptor, Maxxis Ardent. The price is high but if you are buying tires once or twice a year($30ish more than any decent tire)it is worth paying $30 or $60 extra a year for this quality of ride. (I only have time to ride about twice a week.)
With Hans Dampf on the front and Nobby Nick on the back my riding just climed to a whole other level - it is trully worth the price.

Tires are super reliable and grippy. I run these tubeless of course at 25psi. Never had a issue on setting them up tubeless either. Only set back is it's pretty heavy tire. But you take the good with the bad. I've ran these on jagged rocks, mud, fire roads and everything you can think of. Still going strong.

Hans dampf your face
Hooked up! I've been a Kenda fan boy forever, but when these went on sale I swooped up on some for my trail bike. I was blown away at the traction. I ride dry desert trails and I was pleasantly surprised at how well they held. The best part for me is that when the start to break loose it's almost like a controlled drift. Never lowsided in a turn. Basically they grabbed and when they slip you feel like a bad ass.

Great tire for Oregon.
I installed these on my wife's 29er. We sometimes have mud in Oregon believe it or not. Theses tires are aggressive enough to get good traction but still roll pretty good on pavement. I mounted them tubless on a tube type rim. They sealed fine and after two weeks have not lost any air. I'm using Orange sealer. Overall I really like these ties.

great all purpose non-directional tire. I prefer using this one on the rear with a MagicMary up front.

Beefy tire with outstanding grip
I first used this tire riding around Zermatt on trails that are rocky and notorious for inflicting flats on tires that seemed robust in all prior environments. It was also wet and steep. The Hans Dampf was outstanding and raised one's level of confidence to a new level. I run it tubeless on the rear of a Remedy 29er. Will likely also put one on the front sometime soon.
