Schwalbe Nobby Nic 27.5" Tire

Schwalbe Nobby Nic 27.5" Tire

The Schwalbe Nobby Nic is the ideal all-purpose tire and has been a long-time favorite among trail riders with a need for speed. Perfect for aggressive XC courses but also right at home on an Enduro course, the Schwalbe Nobby Nic features a widely-spaced tall knob pattern to provide plenty of grip while maintaining relatively low rolling resistance. Built around the lightweight and flexible Racing Ralph casing, the Schwalbe Nobby Nic features a more aggressive tread pattern for better traction on fast and loose terrain.

Features

  • Utilizes the super-fast carcass of the Racing Ralph

Blown away with how well it holds up Considering the price. Actually gonna order another one here pretty soon for the front!
Purchased the nobby nic a few weeks ago and it's been an exellent tire! I'd recommend it to anyone running 27.5. It rolls smoothly yet holds a lot of grip under pressure on climbs and descends. Overall awesome tire.

Good Tire
I have the snakeskin 2.35 trailstar compound version of this tire on the rear of my trail bike. It is set up tubeless (very easy, no hassle) on a 30mm internal width rim. It is very grippy and with the wider rim. It works well on rocks, mud and loose stuff. I have even used it for a few days of DH park riding with no issues.

Great trail tire
I purchased the tire for the reputation for a good all round trail tire and added protection of snake skin side walls. Running at 23 psi in a variety of track types including rock gardens the tire has grilled well and has not suffered punch flats. Good grip including arresting corner slides back and front. I have given 4 stars because I can't comment on wear as yet, but performance is outstanding

Tubeless Nobby Nic's!
Well I'm glad to finally say that this is my first tubeless tire! I've been skeptical of running a tubeless wheel set up only because of traditional reasons. I started to think that there must be something to this, and that it's not just a fad. After a lot of sweat beading the tire to the rim. I had a feeling these were going to ride like a dream. Well, they did! Excellent traction even in slightly muddy conditions. I would recommend these for sure. I would suggest using a compressor for sure!

So far a good all around tire...
I have about 300 miles on this tire and it seems to be a great all around tire. Some center knobs are chunking under braking on rocks, but that has not affected performance. Easy rolling resistance makes for nice long rides and climbing traction is very good. Sliding under braking is also very predictable and accurate. I plan on running this as a rear tire year round along with a Hans Damf up front. favorite combo so far! I'm running the 27.5 trailstar.

Nobby Nic Pacestar 2.25"
Weight vs Grip is excellent!

Durability: After 4 trips to Blue Mountain to ride downhill on my Norco Carbon Sight 650b, the back half of all the centre knobs broke off. Hard aggressive braking on steep hard pack and gravelly trails did this. On typical X-Country trails I've never experienced this.
At first I was concerned when I noticed the broken knobs but after going back to riding my local X-Country trails, I found that this "modification" was fantastic. Rolling resistance was noticeably less and traction was not affected at all. Losing the back half of all the centre knobs was the best thing that could have happened to these tires.

Good tyre, tight fit. Good grip.
Used as a replacement for a NN Evo on a rear wheel.
Paired with a Hans Dampf SuperGravity on the front.

The Double Defence variant is a tough tyre to fit (tight) but not near as difficult as the SuperGravity. You will probably need a pair of long metal tyre levers.
It sets up tubeless very easily, as do most Schwalbe tyres I've ever used.

The cap of the tyre isn't as supple as the SG tyres, but the sidewalls seem to be just as tough.

Sorry i'm new to mountain biking. Can i fit this tire on my bike (2014 Giant Talon 3)? Right now it has a 27.5 x 2.10 Giant Sport Custom Kenda tire but this tire is only in 27.5 x 2.25 and up. Thank you!
Justin K on Dec 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi Justin. The second number is the width of the tire. So a 2.25 will be .15" wider than a 2.10 but should fit fine. I run a wider tire on the front of one of my bikes and find the handling to be better than the original 2.10. I have the Nobby Nic 27.5 x 2.25 in the front on my Giant Stance. I run a Racing Ralph 27.5 x 2.25 in the back. I like the bite or grip of the NN on the front and the roll (less resistance) of the RR on the back. Hard to go wrong with Schwalbe. Note, width vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. A 2.25 from one manufacturer may be a little wider than a 2.25 from another manufacturer. Schwalbe runs true to width.
Sorry i'm new to mountain biking. Can i fit this tire on my bike (2014 Giant Talon 3)?( look it up) Right now it has a 27.5 x 2.10 Giant Sport Custom Kenda tire but this tire is only in 27.5 x 2.25 and up. Thank you!

BEST ANSWER: These tires will very likely fit fine.

Tires of a larger width should mount correctly to any 27.5 wheel rim (they all have the same bead seat diameter). A slightly wider tire should stable unless the rim is unusually narrow. The primary question is whether or not you have sufficient space around the tire such that a wider (and slightly taller) tire does not rub on any part of the frame or fork. Similar concerns apply when switching to a more aggressive (more knobby) tire of the same width.
this tire, the "performance" model is not listed. what are the specs?
thanks
