This review is for 29x2.25 (not snake skin) performance folding.
It is an absolute dream to ride. I tried it on hardpack - rolls great and grips 2 times better than Nevegal(Nevegal being knoby /gripy tire), on sandy terain - parts of the trail have a real nasty and deep sand and I was able to control my bike like with no other tire (except in combination with Hans Dampf), in wet it sheds mud, grips and it just responds awesomely. I just wish that I was able to get 29x2.35 for this price BUT this tire gives more than I can ask for.
It doubled my confidence and helped me climb a hill I gave up on almost a year ago.

Seemed to be a good quality tire, easy to mount and seal tubeless. No pinholes or weeps on the sidewalls. Pretty light for the size. I've ridden them fast and hard for about 60 miles now on rocky, loose over hard, and hard-pack trails and there were no obvious signs of wear - the knob edges remained sharp. Not the best at climbing, braking or cornering, but seemed to be an OK, but not great, balance of all of those. I tend to ride the same trails as a matter of routine, so I was really surprised when my rear tire flatted while descending a steep rocky section that I had ridden these tires on before. Nothing unusual or different about this descent except for the rear tire suddenly losing most of it's air. I stopped quickly and rotated the tire until the area leaking air was down, so the Stan's inside could seal it. I then inspected the tire, expecting to find a pinhole type of puncture, but all I could see was large amounts of Stan's oozing all over the tread in that area. I was kind of confounded, as there was no obvious puncture visible. I pumped up the tire and immediately rode home with the tire gradually losing air. When I got home, I removed the wheel from the bike and inspected the tire closely. Still unable to find the puncture site, I inflated the tire to it's maximum recommended pressure and found air seeping from around the base of one of the knobs in the center of the tread. I manipulated the knob and found that it had chunked-off, but it was still attached by a small skin of rubber on one bottom edge which created what was essentially a hinge, allowing the knob to completely flap back off of the carcass exposing the tire cords and then return to it's original position where it looked like a normal, undamaged knob. I was just within the 30 day return period, and was able to send these tires back for a full refund. These tires seem to be too lightweight and fragile for rocky conditions, and not a very good tire in general with limited traction while climbing and during hard braking and cornering. I won't be buying them again.

Comments about Schwalbe Nobby Nic Performance 29" Tire:

Good price on the Performance model Nobby Nic, but durability issue negated the low cost. Had this mounted with a tube as a front tire on my 29er hardtail. Enjoyed a couple rides with it on fairly typical Midwest (KC metro) trails… single track with occasional root and rocks, but nothing too gnarly. It rolled pretty well for a somewhat more aggressive tread pattern and the grip, while not super grippy, was very predictable for me on the corners. I knew very quickly how it would grip, break loose slightly then catch the corner lugs. Really liked it until about the 4th ride, when the sidewall got severely gashed and the tube cut underneath it. Was not in a particularly rough stretch so was quite surprised. Was able to throw a new tube in and ride straight out but the tire was done for. Very disappointed in the durability of the Performance model. Now have a Snakeskin EVO TLR model Nic. Unfortunately, it has a manufacturing defect and the tread pattern is off-center from what it is normal. Want to love this tire, but Schwalbe is making it hard!

Comments about Schwalbe Nobby Nic Performance 29" Tire:

I've used these tires tubeless exclusively for the last two years in So Cal and have had mostly positive experiences with them. My biggest complaint about them is the thin sidewalls--if you ride in areas with lots of jagged rocks, you will likely rip holes in them. However, the tread is awesome. It hooks up in a wide variety of terrain and inspires confidence through challenging sections. Be aware of the thin sidewalls and you will be impressed by these tires.

Comments about Schwalbe Nobby Nic Performance 29" Tire:

Wonderful tire!

I use it for all mountain/trail/XC in Maryland. Runs tubeless and pops right in with a floor pump - just need to add some sealant.

Great grip, great weight for the size and traction, great price.

Holds very well on roots, rocks, wet, gravel, snow, frozen mud, etc. Only starts to loose when in deep curve on dry sand or over wet mud, but really can't blame it. With 6-8 hours of weekly usage year round (yes, incl. winter!) for my weight (180 lb) and quite aggressive style of riding, they last approx. 1500 miles up front and 800 miles on the rear, just like any other tire I tried. Lots of cuts and lost knobbies, but no issues holding the air or anything.

Comments about Schwalbe Nobby Nic Performance 29" Tire:

Bought the Knobby Nic cause I needed a more aggressive tire for the dirt on my Jet 9 Carbon 29r. I was using the Racing Ralphs but they didn't have enough bite. I rode these tires on the challenging trails of China Peak, Ca. The tires performed well over hard packed trails to rocky and powder trails. I ran the tires tubeless with about 33 lbs of pressure. A higher priced with stronger sidewalls version is available but they are also heavier.

Comments about Schwalbe Nobby Nic Performance 29" Tire:

Good all around tire for where I do most of my riding. Has a predictable feel and I find that I can lean these through the turns aggressively. Great traction for climbing and braking. I had a little trouble getting them to seat at first, but it was more my fault than the tires, and the rims could have had something to do with it as well. I have installed these tires on my other bike and they went on perfectly and sealed well. They seem to ware well.
