Schwalbe Pro One 700C Tire

Schwalbe Pro One Tubeless Tire

The Schwalbe Pro One Tubeless Tire is the fastest and most reliable competition tire that Schwalbe has ever made. Schwalbe wanted the standards of the Pro One to be top-of-it's-class so they built a separate facility exclusively for the production of this incredible tire. This tubeless version of the Pro One offers the benefits of tubeless systems like lower rolling resistance and increased puncture protection. Enough waiting, wrap the Pro One around your rims and set out for the top of the podium.

Best tubeless on the market...
I've been riding tubeless for a couple years, (Hutchison Fusion 25's). Based on initial reviews I decided to try the Pro One 28's on my Specialized Roubaix. Theses are the easiest tubeless tires I've ever mounted - did not need to use tire levers to get them on the rim, (still had to use a shot of CO2 to get them seated). @ 225 lbs I'm running 80psi front & 90psi rear. These are fantastic tires.

Great tire - horrible customer service!
After inflating the second tire I noticed a leak in the sidewall. Jenson's solution? "If you would like you can return the tire for a full refund and order a replacement tire". If I would like? Are you serious?? You just shipped me an $80.00 tire that won't hold air! And just how long is that going to take?? Meanwhile, I've got to remount my old tire and ride on miss-matched tires until this gets straightened out. Oh yeah, it gets better. I've got to pay for return shipping! I'll continue to ride Schwalbe's, but this is my last time to purchase anything from Jenson.

A Swing and A Miss
I put a pair of Pro One's on Stan's Grails this spring for general road riding here in Colorado and have been pretty disappointed with them. I bought them because Schwalbe rated them high for protection. I don't know what they're protecting me from but it's not tire punctures. I've had three carcass punctures and just got back from a ride with a low rear...again. To add insult to injury, they don't work well with sealant. I'm using Stan's and for it to seal at all the tire has to deflate to about 40 lbs. Airing the tire back up to 80 lbs and flexing it on the road causes the sealant to fail. The punctures have all been quite small and I would have expected them to seal and not have to worry about them again but there's something about the rubber compound they used that doesn't play well with sealant.
I would not recommend these tires.

Five Month Report
I installed the 28's on both of our bikes. We are running them on wide rims(Belgium+) rims. During the wet weather, we picked up a few punctures from the crown of thorns common in our area. The white sealant always sealed without significant loss of pressure. On one ride, I picked up a larger puncture from glass, or some other debris I rode through which didn't seal until pressure was down to about 20#. I was within a couple miles of home, so I was able to continue the ride. I washed out the white sealant and installed Orange. The hole was about 1/16", and Orange wouldn't seal reliably either at road pressure (80#+/-), so I patched the inside of the tire as suggested by Stan. No problems since after hundreds of miles. These tires are fast, comfortable and have good traction, which I demanded after running Conti GP4000S2's for about 4 years. I agree with other reviewers that these tires are very easy to mount/dismount on the rims. These have turned out to be what I was looking for-little, if any roadside flat fixes. The fastest tires are the ones you don't have to stop and fix.

Can be done
Can be installed with floor pump but it's a workout. Pretty easy tire to set up and very nice to ride. I used Orange Sealant ( 2oz ) and its rides great.

This tire is fast
Set it up tubeless on a set of Reynolds R90-SL's and they mounted up easily. These tires corner really well, and they "feel"faster. They are a very compliant ride and take up some of the chatter from debris. I did get one flat that was too big to seal but the nail would have destroyed any tire so I can't really hold that against them. I replaced it with another Pro One if that says anything.

Awesome tires
Simply put these tires are awesome. In a recent test by bike radar they tested 15 or so road tires and the Pro Ones came out on top as the fastest rolling tire. After seeing this I decided to invest in a pair. I bought the 28c and the ride is amazing. They are very fast rolling and pretty lightweight for a 28c tire. I run them tubeless and so far after 6 months I've only had one puncture which sealed itself quickly and I only lost about 20psi. This is normal as they are quite lightweight and built for speed and not so much for commuting. Because they're tubeless you can run them with pretty low pressures and not worry about pinch flatting. I weigh 80kg and I run 65psi in the rear and 60 in the front.

The ride is very smooth while giving up almost nothing in speed, but you can ride for a lot longer time with less fatigue. This translates into you being faster over a longer distance. I think tubeless for road in finally ready to take over like tubeless did for MTB. You can still run these with tubes but they ride much better tubeless. There not cheap but very with it, you won't be disappointed.

will this fit a 24mm wide rim?

BEST ANSWER: yes, but it may be difficult to get seated tubeless without a high pressure air compressor and removing the valve core.
