These are very quiet pads. They seem to be wearing fast. The OEM Avid brand (organic)pads seem to last me one season and cost about $24. The serfas pads are lasting half as long - I use 2 sets per season but at [$] that's a great savings. I put about 1500km a year on my mtb bike - use that as a gauge for how long they may last for you.

Maybe this is just me, but I have been trying to extend the life of my current bike in the hopes that it will convince me to save a few g's on a new bike. So I installed these, since my brakes felt soft and squealed. They install easily, but they seem to wear out faster than others. In the hopes that it's something else I will look at other options, like bleed the brakes, but spending $200-300 on new brakes doesn't make sense, when a whole new rig would include some better brakes. Rebuilding the Avid 5 might even be an option, but lets get real--spending $50 or more on rebuilding the pistons and levers seems a bit silly also. But lets see. These work in the meantime

This product works perfectly with Avid breaks. It is half the price of bike shop pads, but they seem like they wear out faster as well.

Comments about Serfas Avid Elixir Disc Brake Pads:

I rated these brakes excellent, but you must bed them in properly to achieve these results. Bedding in: If you have access to a hill (non Fla resident lol) I'd suggest mount your bike @ the summit ride downhill and apply the brakes to a full hard , but not panic stop for at least ten applications. If your a flat lander: can you say: intervals

Comments about Serfas Avid Elixir Disc Brake Pads:

I was about to convert my moutain bike from Avid to Shimano brakes because of the terrible modulation and "Wrebble" noise from the Elixir 7 brakes. I tried these pads as a last ditch effort and could not be happier. Not a sound and modulation is now top notch. I see posts about wearing out early so time will tell.

These work just like they would be expected to. However, I have had trouble with the AVID braking systems, so I would tell someone to go with shimano if they had a choice.

Put these on the front of my 2012 Camber Comp. Easy to put in. Bite is not as good as the sintered (?) pads I had previously, but work fine.

Comments about Serfas Avid Elixir Disc Brake Pads:

Like others, over several months I became increasingly frustrated with the constant mice-like squeaking of the stock pads on my Avid Elixir 7 brakes. Constant cleaning, sanding and adjusting only to have the mice come back in full force again within a couple miles. Finally I Googled "Avid Elixir noise" and lo and behold I see a link to these Serfas. After reading the reviews and seeing the price I gave them a shot and I'm glad I did - no more noise!

I'm a true recreational road & mountain biker that rides only 2000-2500 miles a year so I don't have a ton of experience with disc brakes. What I can say is these have an overall different feel than the OEM pads in that they aren't as "grabby" - it's much more of a smooth stopping power. I feel like there's more of an overall range from just feathering the brakes to a full on grab.

It's been mentioned that these are thicker than the stock pads and they are. The front was fine but I just bled a few drops from the rear and all is well. As for durability - I don't know, but even if I have to replace these a few times a year it's a heck of a lot better than having a pack of mice follow me along the trail.

Comments about Serfas Avid Elixir Disc Brake Pads:

I am not sure how/where everyone reviewing these pads are riding...but I have gone through 3 sets of these in one summer. In fact, the most recent pair found myself pulling my levers to my bars within two weeks (and that included a brake bleed).

These pads also are NOT very powerful, especially when wet...so if you are mostly riding XC in rolling/flat areas, they will be fine. Mix in some all mountain ridnig with some serious descents and steepes, and you wont be thrilled with the lifespan. I could have just gone with the Avids once rather than these 3 times this summer... i must be a cheap biker bum!
