Cons

    Best Uses

Comments about Serfas Seca Wire Bead Road Tire:

I have these tires in the 700x28 size and love them. I acknowledged that I'm never going to race again and just want comfortable tires that are flat resistant. As for flat protection, I haven't had a flat yet so that's good so far. This is the first time I've tried 700x28 tires and really like them. Mine say max pressure 130psi on the sidewall, so you can crank them up for speed if you like. I run them at about 115psi and enjoy the comfort.

Comments about Serfas Seca Wire Bead Road Tire:

I bought the Seca's in 28mm, wire bead, as a training/commuting tire for my wife's wheels, and they're great for training and commuting. These tires were mostly ridden in wet, fall/winter Pacific North-West conditions for training, indoors on both rollers and a mag trainer, and in the summer for commuting in dry conditions. Note that Mr. Tuffy tire liners were used in conjunction with these tires. I estimate there's at least 5,000km on them, and they're not quite through half their riding lifetimes - in terms of wear, there is lots of rubber on these tires, which makes them particularly good for indoor training. Durability has been good with only a few expected cuts into the rubber, but nothing down to the casing. No sidewall nicks or tears despite riding through winter roadside debris, and I've only had one flat on the tire on the rear, and that was a snakebite-pinch flat. Ride quality is nothing to write home about - you feel fairly isolated, detached from the road, but then again this is with the 28mm version. Grip in the wet is average, but passable (the tires/wheels were used on a brutal road climb up Mt. Baker in mid June, in the rain, and even survived the slushy snow conditions at ski lifts where we could go no higher due to snow). There is a fair amount of rolling resistance, but then again the Mr. Tuffys and the weight of the wheels themselves could also contribute to this. Running the 23mm sizes would probably mitigate this. Best metaphor for these tires is that if you're looking for a Ferrari or even a Cadillac, look elsewhere - but if you're comfortable with a K-car that gets you where you want reliably with just the basics, the Seca's are a good choice.

    Good product

    By Paul

Comments about Serfas Seca Wire Bead Road Tire:

Good product. Not good for racing or climbing all day but since I do neither I am happy with it. No fuss. Install and forget about it! I had superlight Vittoria race tires but got tired of getting flats and cuts, hence this purchase
