There is a lot less flex in these 105 calipers then the Tektro R-540s with the new Shimano pads they replaced.
I'm about 210 lbs so the extra stopping power is really felt. I can now stop with confidence instead of nearly blowing through corners with the Tektros which was terrifying.
These 105s also offer more modulation as well. Previously with the Tektros I would easily lock up the rear without warning, now although it will still lock there is a bit more warning.
I wish these had the bearing pivots like the Ultegras do, but I couldn't justify the price difference. The 105s still have smooth lever feel though.
