A life saver. A must for mountain bikers. I keep a couple in my pack. The guide pin makes installation smooth and easy and I've never had a problem with binding or tightness.

Absolutely necessary if not using power link, use kmc or sram link which is far superior. Just get it to have in your toolbox.

too easy, i don't know how your supposed to break off that part, but i just let the cassette take care of that (pedal away!)

It would be rediculous not to use one whenever you repair a chain; it'd be like riding on just tubes, something bad is going to happen to you. I've made the mistake of repressing a used pin on a friend's bike.... he wasn't too happy.

You absolutlly need these is you are taking apart 9 speed chains, when you don't use them you live in fear of a chain snapping and hitting your nuts on the top tube when you're climbing steep hills
