Comments about Shimano Deore M591 SGS Rear Derailleur:

Let me preface by saying I also ride a road bike with SRAM Rival derailleurs. This Deore, coupled with Deore shifters are the best I've ridden in terms of smoothness and ease of shift. It's like just a small touch and you're there; effortless. Like butter. I can't even imagine what XTR is like. I put it on my commuter hybrid which is much overkill, but the shifts are phenomenal. I am a fan.

Comments about Shimano Deore M591 SGS Rear Derailleur:

Good functional and reliable rear derailleur that simply gets the job done right. I swapped my Shimano Acera with this one and even though my Acera did a good job on shifting, I did notice that this derailleur is more consistent and precise than the Acera (I do not have to readjust as often and the shifting is more crisp). I really do not think it weighs more or less than my older unit but then again I do not take the time to weigh every single component that goes on my bike. I cannot speak for actual mountain biking, but for commuting this unit is all you'll ever need if you have a Mountain bike converted into a Commuter bike.

Love the tough look and the chain seems to slap less when I installed this unit.

Comments about Shimano Deore M591 SGS Rear Derailleur:

I have Shimano Deore as my drivetrain and it works great! Funny how when you have ALL the same level of components making up your drivetrain things suddenly work as per design! I previously had 2 different rear derailers and always had some sort of problem or had to make constant adjustments. I almost expected the same with this one, but nope. It shifts up and down as desired.

Comments about Shimano Deore M591 SGS Rear Derailleur:

Deore is a great value. I ran a Deore rear derailleur for years and it was a great part. The shifting is a little sluggish compared to higher end derailleurs, and it's a bit heavier, but it's also 1/2 the price, so you can't complain too much. Easy to install and adjust-- great bang for the buck here.

This Derailleur came stock on my Marin. It worked great, and is very easy to adjust with the barrel adjuster on the derailleur.
