For one thing, jenson is wrong about this product. They say it includes instructions, but the only instructions are warnings such as if you inhale it you'll get diarrhea; so make sure you know what you're doing before you buy it. Another thing to keep in mind is that they also work with Shimano Deore disc brakes (which is what i have). Other than soiling myself from sniffing too much of it, it worked great.

Well you get the bottle displayed, a small single piece of tubing, and a small square plastic bag. No useful instructions.

I have the newer Shimano XT (785) brakes which also require a funnel to screw into the resivor (does not seem to be included in any kit), and a syringe to inject the oil into the calipar to push the fluid up through the resivor. Which also doesn't come in any kit I could find. The tubing/syringe can be had at a local hardware store. Any bag/empty bottle/etc will do as it's only purpose is to collect the tiny amount of oil that gets pushed out of the caliper. In short I wouldn't call this a kit. It's a bottle with a small tube, that's it.

I bled two brakes, after shortening the hose and still have 3/4 of a bottle left. Unsure how many full bleeds you'd get from this but I'd imagine 2 to 4.

    Comments about Shimano Bleed Kit:

Used it to bleed my brakes when I changed the pads.

It got the job done, but was a bit messy and difficult to install the tube. while squeezing the bottle, oil escaped.

A syringe model would be more effective and a better investment.

    Comments about Shimano Bleed Kit:

It's not really a kit since you also need the funnel to do the job. I definitely recommend using the Shimano oil tho. I used another brand last bleed and on long downhills, I could feel the oil expand as the levers had less and less travel. With Shimano oil, the travel remains constant even when hot.

      Comments about Shimano Bleed Kit:

Right amount of fluid and the hose is just the right diameter but the hose is too short -- this makes it far too easy for the hose to pop off the bleed port during operation. A syringe with a longer hose would be a much better set-up. Shimano breaks are awesome but the Avid bleed kit is easier to use than this set-up.

          Comments about Shimano Bleed Kit:

I used the Shimano Brake Bleed kit to change the mineral oil in two old brake levers. The kit worked great, but it really only good for two to four bleeds. If you are planning on servicing your brakes frequently on multiple bikes, I would recommend a few oral syringes, tubing and the jug of Shimano mineral oil

The cost was to much for a little fluid and 25 cents worth of tubing. This is not a kit and has no useful instructions. Find a cheaper alternative or buy the large amount and split the cost with a friend.

This is basically mineral oil for the brakes with a piece of tubing which I guess makes it a bleed "kit". Unfortunately, what I didn't realize is that if you have the newer XT brakes you need another "kit" part# SM-DISC that is a funel that threads into the port on the resevoir to bleed the brakes. In any case, Shimano brakes are amazing and the mineral fluid works great but wish I realized that I needed another part to actually get the job done.
