Comments about Shimano F03C Metal Pad:

After two years of riding, a week in Moab, and a couple of trips to Blue Mountain Bike Park, it was finally time to replace my original F03C pads. These pads put limited wear on my rotors, stop great, and seem to last very well.

Comments about Shimano F03C Metal Pad:

Here in the Pacific NW, bikes take a real beating from the rain, snow, and gritty roads. Rims that used to last 3 winters I am lucky to get one winter on, as the rim calipers wear down the brake tracks, and eventually the rims crack, or the tire blows off the weakened rim. I switched to a front disc brake to address this problem (you DO NOT need a heavy rear disc if you're riding on pavement, so you just need a disc fork, not a whole new bike!), and now my rims last forever - I'm even using a carbon fiber front rim now. The rear rim lastz much longer too as I hardly even touch the rear brake; the front is so effective even downhill in heavy rain. I upgraded from mechanical to hydraulic disc brake, and the Shimano 785 brakes better with less force than my previous TRP Hylex. However, you want to switch the resin pads that come with the 785 with the F03C metal pads. Mine have lasted 4100 km before needing to be replaced (resin pads last maybe 500 km in the rain if you're careful), and they wore very evenly. This compares to 500-1000 km for rim caliper pads during the winter, plus having to replace the rim and rebuild the front wheel. (Note: I bought the brakes and pads. No gifts or payments! Also, I recommend you also get the Park hydraulic brake piston tool, you will need it! And replace the threaded bolt that keeps the pads in place with the cotter pin that comes with the pads. If you ride regularly in the rain, the bolt WILL get stuck and you'll have to drill it out, like I did!

Comments about Shimano F03C Metal Pad:

Shimano pads last longer than similar Avid (sintered) pads. However they cost more. Anyways these pads work well in my SLX calipers.
