Shimano J02A Resin Disc Brake Pads

Shimano J02A Resin Disc Brake Pads

It’s your worst nightmare. You’re hauling down the trail, coming in hot to an unfamiliar corner. Round the apex and in your way is a jumbled mess of rocks, glass, and what may very likely be fresh horse droppings. There is no way you want to run into that stuff. You grab a handful of brake lever but nothing happens. Soft, squishy, and underpowered, there’s no missing it now. You plow into the mess of debris and down you go. Replace those worn out pads with genuine Shimano J02A Resin Disc Brake Pads and next time, have the control you need to steer clear of what may lie around the bend.

Resin pads mean maximum initial bite, excellent modulation and quiet operation. Pair these finned pads with your Shimano Ice-Tech rotors and you'll have maximum cooling performance to keep your braking performance even and predictable even on long descents.

Shimano J02A Resin Disc Brake Pads Specifications:

  • Aluminum Ice-Tech Cooling Fins
  • Resin Pad Material for maximum initial bite, smooth modulation and low brake noise
  • One package contains pads, spring and retaining clip for one brake caliper. You will need to buy two pad sets for a whole bike.

Compatible with these Shimano brake calipers:

  • XTR BR-M9000
  • XTR BR-M9020
  • XTR BR-M987
  • XTR BR-M985
  • Deore XT BR-M785
  • SLX BR-M675
  • Deore BR-M615
  • BR-RS785

I will be running these pads for now on.
I have been using the higher grade XTR pads, I was reading a few pro reviews and based on my local riding conditions (dry/hardback) I thought I would save some money and check them out. I would have to say I like the feel, they are super quite and stop me at 250 lbs...

Definitely an upgrade
During a weekend of ~ 8,000ft of descent, my old pads went to bare metal. They had been overheating on ~30 minute + descents at times, so I decided to get these with the cooling fins. Seems to be an improvement over the non-finned versions, as I did the same descent the first weekend with these and did not experience the brake fade I had with the old, worn, pads. Could have just been the fact that pads were new though.

F01A Are Finned pads slightly different compound mixture
Thank you,
Jason
Are 2 sets of brake pads included in this package? or does pair just mean 2 brake pads for one brake caliper.
A shopper on Jan 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: A pair just means 2 brake pads for one caliper so you would need two pairs if you were planning to do both calipers on your bike.
Will these fit the XT M8000 brake calipers?
Jonathan on Feb 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes. These are the resin version of what comes standard. The XT come with the sintered (semi-metallic) pads. However I wanted the quiet stopping power and wet conditions performance of resin pads, however they will wear more quickly. They match exact except for pad material. They will require a short break in before reaching full stopping power.
Are these the same as the L02A that are in the RS505 brakes?
Matt D on Jul 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I am using these pads in my saint brakes and they work great
Will this fit my new 2017 SLX brakes ?
A shopper on Jul 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes. They SLX come with the sintered (semi-metallic) pads. However if you want the quiet stopping power or wet conditions performance of resin pads you can use these instead.
Will these fit the SLX 7000 brake calipers?
A shopper on May 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: yes these should fix your calipers
