I was building an older GT and wanted to upgrade to the newer Shimano Octalink cranks and bottom bracket, and did not want to spend a lot of money. This BB fit well and is smooth and strong, not super light but well worth the money.

The quality is much worse than other octalink models. the spindles are purposely different lengths on each side, I believe it is to accommodate wider chainstays.Look for a better fit and quality model than this

The drive side is using a newer '08 LX Crank arm, while the other one is using a '99 to make the crank arms even. I would never buy this bottom bracket again unless someone could tell me that I've installed it incorrectly.
