Shimano SLX BR-M7000 Disc Brake

Coming to a stop is much harder than it sounds, especially when you’re bombing down a run at 30 miles an hour. The Shimano M7000 brakes provide ample stopping power to bring you to a complete halt. Shimano upgraded the system with a new, integrated master cylinder that gives a sleeker look, saves weight and frees up valuable handlebar space.

It doesn't stop there. SLX brakes adopt many of the top-end technologies from XTR and XT, including Servo-Wave modulation and ceramic pistons, making these brakes feel amazing and powerful. These brakes require only a single finger to reach full braking power. At a lower cost than XT and XTR, these benefits are hard to beat. SLX brakes are easy to gravity-bleed, meaning you get back on the dirt faster. One-way bleeding is much faster and cleaner than competing brake bleeding systems.

Shimano SLX BR-M7000 Disc Brake

  • Refined Servo Wave for improved feel and feedback
  • Narrow clamp band
  • Tool-free reach adjust
  • Metal compound, finned pads included stock

    Best Brake Bargain...PERIOD
These brakes are excellent. They actually have better lever feel than the xt8000's. They modulate better and have more consistent "pull" feel. Not quite as strong as xts but very close. Silent and drag free too. Better than any offering from SRAM.

    Awsome brakes for the price
Had previously run Avid Mechanicals on my hardtail but found they would not stay in adjustment for very long and the stopping power was just not up to my expectations. I recently switched to the SLX hydraulic discs and absolutely love them. They are super easy to install, trim the hoses and adjust. Most importantly, they keep their adjustment. Stopping power is exactly what I was looking for.

I had been debating upgrading to the XT brake set. The SLX has been more than sufficient for my all-mountain riding style and a big step up from the Deore brakes that came stock on my Trance.

    Best value on the market
I have the m8000's and have used various models of the guides...these m7000 slx give up nothing to any of the other models. They feel like the tipping point where performance stops and bling begins. They have amazing stopping power and shimano has sorted the inconsistent bite issues that the early m8000 suffered from. These paired with some icetech sm-rt86 rotors is the best breaking value I am aware of on the market.

    Great brakes
No comment on long term durability, but I've fallen in love with these brakes on the few rides that they've been on.

Great modulation, excellent stopping power, low noise, no rub, easy to install/use, great levers. These are everything I could ask for in a brake, especially at this price. Wouldn't hesitate to order these again if needed. Planning on moving these over to any new bike that I buy because they're much better than the brakes that came on the bike I currently own.

Shimano Quality - Install and Performance -
Replaced stock Avod Elixir with these Shimano SLX-BR-M7000's - front and rear. Was a very simple install: remove existing brakes, route the new lines, bolt-on the caliper, bolt on the lever - and done!

Brakes worked after a few pumps and I was on the trails immediately thereafter. Great lever feel and effective braking without any rotor squeaks or grinding. Solid breaking performance with one finger on the lever and no fade that I could detect - even on my gnarliest downhill. Yet another Shimano quality product.

Excellent service as always. But the high shipping prices to Hawaii is a bummer considering it's free on the continent. At least give us a slight break on shipping. Please!

    Great upgrade!
Replaced some old Elixir brakes with these beauties.
Simple to install, cut lines to length with a very sharp knife.
Reassembly and bleed process took minutes (hours for Elixir.)
Great responsive feel to the brakes.
Easy to service, pleasure to use, what could be better?

    good
Gotta love shimano brakes, performance is good, but they really sorta shine in the servicibility. Just looking at them, you can completely take them apart with essentially nothing more than a multitool. Plus the brake fluid being mineral oil is great, as opposed to DOT fluid, which is ~pretty~ toxic.

    Hi!
Do these brakes come with metal finned (ice tech) pads?
Are they really compatible with I spec B / II? (Thats what the info says about them)
    Thanks!!!
Juan Fco. on Oct 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: 1) Yes, both the front and rear come with metallic finned pads.
Use the resin pads for your front brakes, NOT METALlIC FOR THE FRONT, unless you like getting launched over the handlebars. The resin pads give you better modulation when braking on loose and semi compact surfaces and prevent instant lockup on pavement/asphalt, use the metallic pads for the rear. If you buy a resin set, you will have a spare set for the rear, you will use the rear more than the front.

    2) Use Shimano Brake Fluid.....
Do I need additional tools, fittings, and/or fluid to shorten the hose length?
    A shopper on Jul 29, 2017
how long are the front and rear hoses?
    A shopper on Dec 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have a specialized camber large frame and the front and rear hoses needed trimming. I am not sure of the exact length but thought this perspective may help.
    Comes with Brake hoses included???
Bruce lee on May 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, comes with hose, caliper (and pads), fluid as a sealed system. Also came with additional connecting insert and olive so it could be shortened to length, although to do so you will likely need to bleed the brake which it doesn't come with the parts for.
Do these come pre-bled? How long are the front and rear brake hoses?
    Carl O on Apr 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: These come pre bleed. I can't comment on the length other then they were very long and I had to shorten them quite a bit to work well on my hardtail. That being said they come with the extra barb and yellow clamp so that you can shorten them. There is a couple good tutorials on shorten shimano brakes without having to bleed them.
Do these come sealed in Shimano packaging, or are they OEM and/or take offs?
    MASC1104 on Mar 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: They came in a big blue box with manual and line cutting jigs. Looks as close to a retail package as i can imagine.
is the price shown above for the full front and rear brake assembly ?
    Simon W on Jan 4, 2017
    BEST ANSWER: Simon:

I bought the brakes for the two front wheels of an Outsider Alpha 422 high speed trike, and got two of them. I'm afraid that I cannot reliably answer your question. But Jensen did a great job of giving me advice as my previous brakes were shot. The price struck me as competitive and the breaker work great.(There is no back brake on an Outrider.

Sorry I cannot be more help. My needs were unusual.

    Best,

    Brian
Hello, I would like to know if right lever works on rear brake and right on front? Which kind of pads does this kits come with? Thanks
    Marcelo D on Jan 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: - no, the shimano levers are not flippable left to right side, because the reservoir is situated on top and the barclamp is hinged at the top too. to use them UK/moto style with front brake on the right instead of left, you will need to swap the hoses around and rebleed.

    - the pads are shimano resin (non metallic) and very good.
Does this brake come pre-bled with hoses included?
    David on Sep 21, 2016

    A shopper on May 22, 2017

Will these fit with Sram X-9 shifters? Are they compatible with a 2009 Giant Reign 2? Thanks!
    Alan C on Jul 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: There shouldn't be a problem using them with X-9 shifters or on the Giant Reign. The real question will be the size of your bars and the size of your frame. You'll want to make sure the hosing is long enough to reach the rear mounts and the bars aren't so cluttered that there isn't room for the levers. I don't imagine either of those things will be an issue.
    Are these levers I-Spec compatible?
    A shopper on Jun 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: They are, fit my xtr 11-speed shifter to it.
To use them as moto/U.K. Style shud I just use a new lever(for front) ? And can I get that pre done if so then how?
    A shopper on Apr 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Sorry, we can't pre-cut your lines for you. You'll likely need to trim the brake lines during install anyways, as the brake lines are invariably too long out of the box. When cutting the lines, you may then re-install the lines flipped if you so wish. Very easy.
