It's a rotor. Comes out true out of the box (unlike my experience with the Tektro). Works well. Never tried really long descent though

Comments about Shimano SLX RT66 6-BOLT Rotor:

I upgraded my single speed from 160mm to 180mm and wasn't looking for something to break the bank (considering my SS wasn't high end).. but it does the job.. I can be more reckless and faster, and I know this rotor will stop..

Don't forget the adapter, if you are upgrading to a larger rotor!

Comments about Shimano SLX RT66 6-BOLT Rotor:

I can't speak to how well this stops because I know that there are better rotors out there. For example, Ice Tech? Or anything that's a floating rotor that's supposed to dissipate heat better. In relation, I'd give this rotor one less star than perfect. For my purposes, which are not that demanding, it works just fine.

An easy and low-cost upgrade from the RT-56. Higher quality metal gives you better performance and wear over time. Quick and easy install, all you need is a torque wrench!

It's not the lightest rotor I've ever used, but isn't the heaviest either.
It is of typically high Shimano quality.

                  Stops bike well

Does this rotor require the "fixing washer" for installation? Looks like it just comes with the bolts and tightening plates and wondering if this additional piece of hardware is also needed.
