Comments about Shimano Tourney TX55 Rear Derailleur:
I have an older Schwinn mountain bike and I bought this derailleur to replace the original which had disintegrated. I was really surprised that this derailleur functioned better than my original one had and at such a low cost! I did have to cut the cable and sheathing to make them compatible with this derailleur and it took a few test rides to adjust it to shift gears smoothly- but after that it was perfect.
Comments about Shimano Tourney TX55 Rear Derailleur:
Can't beat the price. Went right on my GT Aggressor no problems. Havn't really put a whole lot of miles on it. So good so far for 50 miles.

Comments about Shimano Tourney TX55 Rear Derailleur:
PUT IT ON MY 1977 NISHIKI OLYMPIC 12 AFTER I REPLACED FREEWHEEL WITH A SHIMANO SET WITH A "BIG BERTHA" BAIL OUT GEAR. WORKED LIKE A DREAM. WONDERFUL ON HILLS.
Comments about Shimano Tourney TX55 Rear Derailleur:
Problem I had with this is that although it is a direct connection, (as opposed to the claw connection) the upper portion acts like another hanger so that once installed, the actual derailleur cage hangs down too far. The connection to your existing hanger is too far removed from the derailleur body. As a result, I later installed a Deore which worked perfecty on my 70's Peugot rebuild.

Comments about Shimano Tourney TX55 Rear Derailleur:
I bought this for a sad, beat up, and abused Schwinn S60 to refurbish for a loaner bike. I am surprised how crisp the action is and how little fine tuning was required. At this price point it wouldn't hurt to keep a couple in the garage for emergency spares.
Comments about Shimano Tourney TX55 Rear Derailleur:
I like this derailer the pully on the cable seems to make it shift smoother. It a good derailer for a low price.
