Bought this Crankset because I wanted a 2x10 xt setup and it is just plain awesome. My bike came with slx/alivio 9spd and after doing the swap its night and day! It leaves me wanting to ride everyday. I also purchased the xt m780 rear derailleur, m785 front deraileleur, and m780 shifters from Jenson. Good service, 4 days to my door with std shipping.

I replaced my XT 3x10 crankset with the 2x10 crankset and they work great. I like the simplified drivetrain. The biggest difference for me is going from a 24 tooth granny gear to a 26 tooth. It takes a bit more effort on the steep climbs but I am quickly adjusting to it.

These cranks are beautiful. The silver really pops. Installation was easy and straight forward, just like other Hollow Tech II cranks by Shimano. The bearings turn smoothly. In addition, the chainrings are top notch. There are many other cheaper options out there but few better, IMO. If you want these cranks then buy em!

I ride cross-country: single-track with some downhill and plenty of climbing. I switched from an OEM triple crankset on my Cannondale (House brand "CODA") with a Deore front derailleur to this Shimano 2x10 crankset and a matching XT double FD. The difference in shifting performance is almost incredible. Night and day. The backside of the large (in my case the 38t) chainring are heavily ramped and I think this is part of the reason why front shifts are so much better. Additionally, shifting between two chainrings has always been much better than on a triple. I can shift chainrings while climbing, something I was never able to do before. With the 26/38 double I find that I'm shifting in the front more than with a 22/34/44 triple. Even though this is touted as a 2x10 system, I'm running a 2x9 with a 10-speed chain with no apparent degradation in shifting performance.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Ditched a 3x10 setup in favor of this 2x10 on my 29er. I was initially concerned about a slightly bigger granny gear ratio with the 2x10, but it actually works much better. This crank is stiff and light.
