The Shimano M770 E-type front derailleur features angled set screws for easier adjustment on some full suspension frame designs. Lighter cage also has been re-profiled for more tire clearance. Designed to handle 9 speed drivetrains with triple cranks.
I am building a bike with a frame that has a derailleur hanger and all my drivetrail components are Shimano deore XT m770. I needed the E-type so I could remove the BB hanger and install the derailleur directly to the frame. BEWARE: my frame came with the necessary bolts to install the derailleur to the derailleur hanger, and the derailleur itself does not come with these. Just make sure one way or another you can get all the bolts needed to hang this on a direct mount!
Excellent front derailleur. Fits a 3x9 drivetrain with 11/32 rear and 22/33/44 front perfectly. Minimal chain rub and only on the high side. Fairly fast/crisp shift as well. It replaced a finicky Deore LX e-type that went straight into the trash after my first ride on this XT!
