I've used Shimano and sram brakes (they're not as bad as some people claim) for years but I've always had a fondness for the Shimano stuff because it just works, every time. Now I can add to the list of working every time.. quite. I have a gift of making most rotors squeal like a banshie, even previous Shimano rotors (the old 960's were great singers), but I cannot for the life of me get these things to make a peep. I love them and have recommended them to my friends who have also had similar results. Awesome rotors! Get 'em and stop worrying about the noise.

Got two 180mm rotors and had to send them back due to warping out of the box. Got 1 160 that was true. Decided to try another 160mm to replace the 180 but it's warped also. This is supposed to be a quality product and it's expensive so it's totally inexcuseable. also when using Avid BB7 brakes you will need to bend the inboard brake pad tab as it hits the spider on the rotor, not a big deal. I'd like to tell you how well they work but I just keep sending them back and haven't had a chance to use them.

Powerful rotors. No squeal no warpage
A bit pricey but works no fade

Comments about Shimano XT RT-86 6 Bolt Icetech Rotor:
Great rotor, very easy to install. One word of note: instructions are outdated and reference a washer and triangle screws. The screws are no longer triangle, and Shimano no longer uses a washer for these rotors. Just tighten the screws and lift the flaps. I found it a little easier to lift up the tabs first, then tighten everything - otherwise it's impossible to pry the ends even with a tiny flat screwdriver.

Comments about Shimano XT RT-86 6 Bolt Icetech Rotor:
Great rotors, a little heavy but amazing stopping power. I got two sizes, 160 and the 180. The 160 was missing the fixing washer as shown in the instructions, but I think it isn't really needed and the instructions should be updated. The bend back washers are a little funky to install too, and almost guarantee that you will scratch your rotors while bending back these washers. It's probably a good safety point though.

Comments about Shimano XT RT-86 6 Bolt Icetech Rotor:
I had to give up on getting a 180mm after getting 2 that were warped right out of the box. The spider seems true but the discs are not attached to the spider in a way that keeps them true. I now have 2 160mm rotors that are better but both of those are also warped. Jenson was excellent about replacing the rotors but at $60 plus a rotor is it too much to ask that a rotor be straight? The other issue is if you use a brake system that uses pads that have a tab facing the rotor the tabs will hit the spider. You will need to bend and grind the tab to get the needed clearance. I use BB7's. If you can put up with those flaws the rotors do stop the bike very well. I'm interseted in trying them on a long steep downhill and if they won't fade even with the flaws it may be worth it. If not buy a $30 rotor with the same quality of the Shimano rotor.

Paired up with the powerful XT or XTR trail brakes, these offer fade free performance. You almost have to be careful how fast the brakes will stop you. These are also easy to install, don't squeal like other brakes I've used in the past, and look pretty dang dope.

Comments about Shimano XT RT-86 6 Bolt Icetech Rotor:
I swapped the cleansweep G3s for these along with the Xt brakes.
So far, amazing rotors. Silent, zero fade on even longer downs. I weigh over 200lb and use 180/160 and it stops me on a dime. My favorite part about these rotors is that there is serious design and thought behind the product. It's not just another steel rotor with a "cool" pattern.
