So, rotors, what can you say about rotors. Well the Icetechs look cool. Before having ridden a set I would have thought all you could comment on are looks but after just one day of Downhill riding in Whistler, before my new Shimano Zee pads had even had a chance to fully break in, I could already tell this combo stays cooler and creates less brake fade. Bottom line, if you like to go fast and you are spending the money on high performance brakes then buck up and grab a set of these rotors as well. I'm glad I did.

Ive got the non ice XT, but has the same center hole, where the axle goes thru. If you use 20mm front axle. Be careful when washing your bike, cuz water can get trapped between the center hole and axle seal.Since the rotor center hole is smaller then the spacing for the 20mm axle. I have 2012 crossmax st wheels with horrible axle seal design. The disc side bearing seized cuz of no water run off and poorly designed seals. Not a good combo wheel and rotor if you wash your bike often.Im going back to solid rotors with the new SLX, it has cut outs between the mounting bolt holes for water run off. But i do love the design of the xt 2 piece rotors.Looks sic and worked flawlessly. Oh and with the crossmax wheels? A whole other story. Actually in the mavic crossmax review in this website.

Comments about Shimano XT RT-86 6 Bolt Icetech Rotor:

I picked these up with the Saint M820 brakes. They go together beautifully. I haven't run into any of howling and they are quieter than my previous Avid brakes.

do you ever bleed your brakes and hop on your steed to find they are still not quite like new? could be your busted up rotor discs. you can align them but its not likely to bring them back to that crisp stopping power

Comments about Shimano XT RT-86 6 Bolt Icetech Rotor:

these rotors are awesome. They lasted 3 seasons of almost daily riding, using metallic pads. They only make noise when the pads are worn down to nothing, otherwise, they are completely quiet. Paired with the xt brakes, they are the perfect, 1 finger setup.

Comments about Shimano XT RT-86 6 Bolt Icetech Rotor:

These rotors do run noticeably cooler than conventional solid plate rotors. A friend of similar weight followed me very closely down a steep, long descent with plenty of heavy braking. Similar brake usage, but his rotors were noticeably hotter at the bottom. Not sure how long they will last yet. Size for size they are lighter than the Hays rotors I have been using, with considerably more braking surface.
