You already know about Shimano shadow technology, which protects your rear derailleur from impact by neatly tucking it away, closer to your cassette cogs where its better protected from sticks and rock impact. The new Stabilizer version takes it a step further, adding adjustable spring resistance to allow you to reduce chainslap under rough riding conditions. Turn on for reduced chainslap and likelihood of derailment, off for normal riding or easy wheel installation.

Works as advertised. Removing the rear wheel is easy when the clutch is disengaged, which was my biggest complaint about my old SRAM set ups.
I have read that for the price, durability can be an issue but after almost 10 months of hard riding, mine is still going strong. Still, coughing up 200 bones is hard. Thankfully, XT derailleurs now have this feature.
Much better than the SRAM X9 rear changer that it replaced. Shimano quality and geometry is much better. The damping clutch is a neat touch.

This is a fantastic piece of hardware. I have now got them on both my bikes and i wouln'd use any thing else. Shifting is fast and positive. The chain slap and noise when riding over rough ground is dramaticaly reduced. The only down side is when changing to a bigger cog on the cassette the gear shift is a bit harder, but you dont notice it when riding.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
