Longest lasting chain!
I get the most mileage out of Shimano chains. I'm not a fan of the press-pin installation, but fortunately it works perfectly with a SRAM 9 speed PowerLink. Other chains seems to wear out in 200-300 miles of dirty, sandy mountain use, but I tend to get doulbe that with Shiamno chains before they reach the wear limit in the same conditions. I just dump a bunch of DuMonde Tech Lube on it (the dark thick green stuff) and rag it off.

PROS: Easy to Use, Durable, Compatible

CONS: The Goofy Press-pin

BEST USES: Serious Racing or Training, Commuting, Casual Riding

Perfect chain - no need to spend more $$
I have used these chains for 10 years and never had one fail. You can spend more money on the higher end versions of these chains but this one is all you need. With regular maintenance and prompt replacement once it's worn out, you will never experience a chain failure. BTW, chains don't stretch they just wear which creates slack that results in lengthening of the overall chain. An overly worn chain is a weak chain.

Solid Product
I've bought shimano chains for all my bikes and they have all lasted very long. I clean and lube my drivetrain after every ride. I ride mostly trail and do alot of sustained climbing in dry dustry conditions. Never broke a chain. Only reason I'm giving it 4 star instead of 5 is I don't like shimano's pin, I use the SRAM powerlink on all my shimano chains and it shifts with no problem.

best chain for the money
I replace my chain twice a season. stretching is always minimal when I measure this chain compared to the comparable SRAM. Never had one break and I pedal hard in our steep southern Rockies. keeps my expensive cassette in good shape.

PROS: Durable

CONS: None

My current chain says HG53, will this HG93 chain work?
A shopper on Jul 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes. HG53 chains are 9-speed, Tiagra (road) and SLX/LX (MTB) level chains. HG93 is completely compatible, just a couple of notches higher on the Shimano price/quality hierarchy. You will save a few grams, but not enough that you will notice the difference!
How many links Shimon hg93 9speed chain I need 116rlb194765
RLB on Nov 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The Shimano website implies that it is 116 links as does a review on Amazon.com...
