I shopped for a shoe for a while. I've had several brands before, but never owned a Shimano shoe. This is my first pair and I am fairly impressed. For the price that Jenson sells this shoe, it is definitely worth it. I've put plenty of miles on the shoes already and I tend to forget that I have clipless shoes on after I get to my destination and start walking around. This is a good feeling as they are comfortable enough to walk around in the city as well as trails. I also feel that the shoe is well ventilated. Some shoes I've owned have relied heavily on mesh and my feet would get too dry or cold, however these I haven't had a problem with. I'm sure I'll have a better opinion when the winter months come. In any case, this shoe compares to more expensive leather or race shoes. Then again, I err in the side of comfort. They are not as heavy as I was lead to believe in people's reviews. I love them and that's all that matters.

I purchased these shoes to replace an old pair of SIDIs and am dissapointed with their durability. After 5 rides total, chunks of the sole are missing and there are several deep gouges that will likely lead to more missing chunks. The shoes are very comfortable but the sole is too soft for rocky environments. These would be ideal for commuting or smooth terrain trails. I would not recommend these to a friend.

I use it once every 2 weeks. Looks good and feels good. Just a little heavier compare to my road bike shoes but maybe that's why they are made for mountain biking.

Comments about Shimano SH-M162 SPD Shoes:

Typical Shimano shoes very overbuilt, slightly large and very firm. These aren't the stiffest shoes around nor are they the lightest. They are good looking shoes that are easy to setup because of segment marking on the outsole. I'm sure they will also be quite durable like all of my Shimano shoes have been.
buckle is durable and easy to adjust on the fly. The buckle isn't the easiest to loosen on the fly, but with a little practice it can become second nature.
I would not use these for extremely long rides because you will feel the flex when absorbing bumps standing for long periods of time. Your feet feel the strain after a while.

Comments about Shimano SH-M162 SPD Shoes:

These shoes seem to be a big improvement over my last pair of Shimano MTB shoes (the MO88). The biggest difference is the sole - which is much stiffer - and the insole - which offers much more support. So far, really enjoying these shoes.

Best bang for the buck, only 5 rides but can't complain. A little heavy, but love the power transfer being clipped in. A friend has a pair and complained the tongue will start ripping, but after 2 years of riding abuse I told it time to get a new pair.
