I've had brake issues since day one with my bike. At 240 pounds (with gear), I never felt that the stock brakes were up to the task of slowing me down on big decents. I read tons of reviews stating a touchy "On/Off" feeling to the Saints, but that has not been my experience at all (yes, if you grab a handful of brake in a panic, they are absolutely enough to throw you). I run them with 203mm front and rear IceTech 86 rotors and have had zero brake fade. Single greatest upgrade to my bike (dare I say, even better than my dropper post?!). Very easy to install and setup. Took 20 minutes to swap over to these while sitting on my garage floor.

In my opinion, these brake where no use for me at all. They where too weak. I was changing my S-Works original Guide RS brakes for something better. However, the brake did not meet my expectations and had to go back to the original Guide. I did call Shimano customer service and did as they suggested however the brake power was poor. I do not recommend these brakes for a rider expecting immediate reaction or extreme brake power.

Comments about Shimano Saint BR-M820 Disc Brake:

Bought rear Saint for my DH bike. Very powerful. I'm using with existing 180mm guide rotor. Modulation not as good as the SLX brakes on my trail bike but still satisfactory. Took a while to bed the pads in though. Felt like it took a good 10 runs at the bike park before they felt awesome. Will prob end up buying organic pads after the metal pads wear out.

Comments about Shimano Saint BR-M820 Disc Brake:

I got those brakes to replace SLXs on my SB66. SLX has plenty of power when trail riding but it fades and feels it lacks the power when riding black trails at a bike park. When pushed very hard, those works much better than SLXs. They both are super easy to bleed and don't get air easily. It took several very hard/steep runs at a bike park to bed them in properly though. I have a set of XTs for another bike and prefer those for lighter use.

These brakes have crazy power, don't hesitate to purchase just because
You don't race downhill, they work great for any application, the levers feel great in your hands, and there's a lot of modulation. The free stroke actually worse on mine! Lol. Cons? They are heavy but worth it!

If I choose "Left" on the dropdown list, is it going to be for the front brake? Other store have it specific on their choices.

                  • A:

Yes, when it says "left" on the dropdown list it is referring to the front brake which most peoples levers are on the left side of their bars.
