The Shimano SM-RT99 XTR/SAINT Freeza Centerlock rotor is the pinnacle of Shimano's ICE Technology development. First featured in Pro Downhill mountain bike racing, the line has been expanded to include all sizes of rotors so other disciplines can too can enjoy the benefits of this top-of-the-line brake technology. The RT99 features Ice-Tech technology which is Shimano’s best-in-category heat management system. Brake heat from long descents sucks power from your brakes, but not with this rotor. The heavily shaped, lightweight Freeza rotor sheds heat incredibly fast for optimal performance, even in the most demanding conditions. A cooler rotor means more braking power, and more consistent braking performance, so you can forget about your brakes and focus on your riding.

The RT99 rotor with its additional cooling fins radiates significantly more heat than the already remarkable RT98. The benefit to you? when used in conjunction with other Ice-Tech technologies such as Shimano's finned disc brake pads and mineral oil brake systems, you can even go down one full rotor size to save weight without any decrease in cooling performance!

  • 20% increase in stopping power
  • 20% longer pad life
  • Additional 50 degrees Celsius decrease in operating temperatures over previous Ice Technology rotor
  • Package includes one rotor and a Centerlock rotor lockring
  • 203mm Weight = 173g, no lockring
  • 180mm Weight = 132g, no lockring
  • 160mm Weight = 116g, no lockring
  • 140mm Weight = 94g, no lockring
  • Lockring Weight = 9g

Shocked at how much better this rotor is than the RT-81

Comments about Shimano RT99 Freeza Centerlock Rotor:

Holy smokes this rotor is great. Not that the RT-81 (previous version) was at all bad, but this this is so much better! It was true out of the box. Had the caliper aligned and set up in minutes. It's quiet and predictable and awesome. No noticeable fade on long descents (sometimes the RT-81 would fade a bit under long and hard braking conditions). I don't know/care how light it is but it sure looks cool.

I haven't had to use this in wet conditions yet, so no data there.

The best

Comments about Shimano RT99 Freeza Centerlock Rotor:

Never heats up on the steepest longest trails. I'm 6'2", 230 pounds. Seems to brake better then the 203 tr86 rotors. If you want something with a little more brake power and less heat, it will be a good choice!

I installed this on my customized Electra touring bike. It's very smooth and definitely runs cooler under long downhill grades.

You can not overheat this rotor, I'm 210lbs and ride like a cannon ball. Never overheats. Match it up with some saints or xtrs and it will never matter how steep or long the run is.

Light rotors that look great but are pricey. If you are installing with the avid bb7 disk brakes you need to bend back the metal spokes on top of the brake pads or it will not fit properly...the cooling fins will hit the metal... Bend back and problem solved.

Will these work on Dt-Swiss 1501 spline one wheelset? or do I need 6 bolts?

              A:

I went to the DT Swiss site and just picked any 1501 wheel. Then clicked on specifications and the hub showed "centerlock" brake mount.
So, yes this centerlock style rotor will work with the wheel I looked up.
I suggest you look up your wheel to double check.
