  • Specially matched radius to handle MTB double cranks
  • Wider chainstay angle works better on todays long-travel, full suspension bikes
  • Multi-Clamp Design works with 28.6/31.8/34.9mm clamp diameters

Excellent choice for a 2x9
Run this on a 36/22 setup in the front on a Giant Trance. The smaller radius cage shifts much faster and doesn't rub when cross chained. It's spec'd for max 36T ring but after seeing it. This derailleur can accommodate up to a 38T ring.

Excellent 2 speed front derailleur
'12 Giant Trance frameset. Converted a HollowTech II M591 crankset to 2x9 speed w/ bash ring replacing the outer chainring. I used the OE Shimano 22T & a 36T RaceFace as the middle. The derailleur handles it no problem. Additionally, it's spec'd for 2x10 with a 47.5mm chainline, I'm using a 50mm (9spd). No issues & NO chain rub!!! Two different wheelsets, 11-32T MTB / 11-28T Road & a 9spd chain. Again no chain rub!

The derailleur is spec'd as 36T max, however, once I saw the cage contour it can handle a 38T chainring w/o problems. Best bang for the buck out of Shimano's derailleurs.

Chain rubs on bottom...
Chain rubs on bottom of "compact cage" when installed on an 02-05 Specialized Enduro. I have the M665 version. When in the 22 tooth front chainring, it will rub in every rear gear except the two largest. The cage is about an inch shorter than the cage on the stock LX front derailleur.Looks like a very high quality part other than my fitment issue. I will be returning this and getting a derailleur with a normal cage length that won't rub.
