Shimano F01A Resin Disc Brake Pads

Shimano F01A Resin Disc Brake Pads

It’s your worst nightmare. You’re hauling down the trail, coming in hot to an unfamiliar corner. Round the apex and in your way is a jumbled mess of rocks, glass, and what may very likely be fresh horse droppings. There is no way you want to run into that stuff. You grab a handful of brake lever but nothing happens. Soft, squishy, and underpowered, there’s no missing it now. You plow into the mess of debris and down you go. Replace those worn out pads with genuine Shimano F01A Resin Disc Brake Pads and next time, have the control you need to steer clear of what may lie around the bend.

Resin pads mean maximum initial bite, excellent modulation and quiet operation. Pair these finned pads with your Shimano Ice-Tech rotors and you'll have maximum cooling performance to keep your braking performance even and predictable even on long descents.

Shimano F01A Resin Disc Brake Pads Specifications:

  • Aluminum Ice-Tech Cooling Fins
  • Resin Pad Material for maximum initial bite, smooth modulation and low brake noise
  • One package contains pads, spring and retaining clip for one brake caliper. You will need to buy two pad sets for a whole bike.

Compatible with these Shimano brake calipers:

  • XTR BR-M9000
  • XTR BR-M9020
  • XTR BR-M987
  • XTR BR-M985
  • Deore XT BR-M785
  • SLX BR-M675
  • Deore BR-M615

OK - If You Like Changing Pads Every 200 Miles That Is
While these pads are quieter than the F03C metallic pads, they don't have near the same amount of power when the going gets pointed downhill. Also, on my XT 785 equipped 29er, these resin pads only last one month/180ish miles for me before the rears are almost to the backing plate, and the fronts are almost as bad. I'm 6' 210lbs all geared up and ride aggressively, but man, changing pads the 1st of every month is lame. I think I may try the Galfer 1053 standard compound pads next because the F03C metallics like to howl every once in a while and I hate that as much as replacing demolished pads.......

Kind of a no-brainer for the rear brake
With the rear brake being used to maintain your speed you end up dragging it more than the front. also as you're decelerating there is mess weight on the rear wheel so the resin pads help to keep it braking and not skidding. So for me there is no better rear brake pad than these, they work on the Shimano Deore/SLX/XT/XTR new and previous series brakes

Better than metal
switching from metal to resin pads I had a little noise on the wear-in, but gone after a few miles. super easy install and good quality. I like the feel of the resin over the metal pads, just smoother and seem to modulate well.

Great pads
Great pads. Have used non finned before and got fade. I run these pretty hard and never have had a problem. Stops just as well before and after a blazing hot DH run.

Fantastic, just like XT brakes
Just like everything else about my Shimano XT brakes, these are great. They're easy to install, quiet and perform fantastic. Using them on my front brake, XT with 180mm RT86 rotor, and have no complaints. They continued to give me great performance throughout a race that took place during a torrential downpour, so that brake combo and these pads works substantially better wet than other brakes I've ridden.

What is the difference between the J02A and these F01A pads? They look the same? Both finned, resin, and fit the same brakes?
Stumpy on Apr 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: from Shimano:
F01A is the older model resin brake pads, while J02A is the newer model.
J02A although newer will save you several dollars- it is a bit cheaper than F01A.
The technical specs for both are identical.
People who have tried the new one J02A report that they are more silent and braking is less abrupt.
If you ride in sand or mud, pick the metal pad version, otherwise the rasin pad.
In this forum I found a visual image of the main differences between F01A and J02A in the forum.
Will these work with M615 calipers?
ML on Jun 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I don't know what version of m615's the other guy who answered had, but I ordered this set of pads based on his answer (and Jensen's specs ) only to find out that it is WAY too tight to make it work. For reference, I have a 2015 SC Bronson and the F01A pads are NOT COMPATIBLE with the stock m615 brakes. I think the J02A might be for the newer style and this one is for the older style? I'm ordering a set of those now so I guess we'll see...
This comes as set (. Rear & front)?
Cri on May 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, You get one pair of pads. They can be used in front or rear but you'll need to order 2 pair to so both your brakes.
do these work with m615 calipers
Charlie on Jun 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No. It's a set of left and right pad for either front or rear caliper.
Will these work in my 2014 Shimano SLX brakes? On the caliper it says BR 675, they are OEM Giant XTC Composite 29er 1 equipment. Thanks.
Bert on Apr 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Bert! Great Question!! Those pads work perfect with the BR-M675 brakes.
