I have used Sidi shoes for years...and like most Sidi shoes they last forever..and pretty much look the same year after year..my last pair I am going on six years...the one thing I never liked about the Sidi was the toe box area...kinda of tight..and when you are off the bike they are not that comfortable to walk in..

I bought a pair of the Shimano shoes and right away noticed the width seems to be true to size and are ver comfortable...they also are very nice to walk in off the bike...they also seem to be padded well or a little thicker on the sides than the Sidi shoes..hoping that lessens some of the side impact pain you can get if you strick a rock with the side of your foot with the Sidi shoe.

The price compared to some others is also a great value for what you get..even if they only last a few seasons I would consider that acceptable in mountain biking

The tongue does not stay centered and slips off to the side. The vinyl part of shoe where closure attaches tore after 3 months of use.

Comments about Shimano M162 SPD Shoes:

I use these for everyday riding. The toe box is just right for my feet - not narrow like a lot of euro styled shoes are. Shimano shoes have always fit my feet well. These seem to be a lot more durable than my previous shimano shoes were - those had rubber glue on pieces that began coming off on the very 1st ride I took with them. Thankfully these are much sturdier

Solid great shoe out of the box, low break in time. The sole is nice and stiff while out of the saddle hammering. It's not a race shoe but a good trail shoe with nice protection on the side and a great working buckle strap. This shoe isn't the lightest but as a trail shoe weight shouldn't be an issue.

Comments about Shimano M162 SPD Shoes:

Bought these as my first pair -ever- of clipless biking shoes. They looked even prettier live, and with the discount i got on them, they were a no-brainer (about the same price as the M088's by the time of this writing)

I'll admit i was weary of buying online without having the opportunity of trying them on first, but despite a little insole difference from what i'm used to, they fit perfect. And just like most (if not all) shimano shoes, get one size larger then your regular EU size!

Comments about Shimano M162 SPD Shoes:

I ride road and mountain, but use mountain shoes since I don't want two pairs. (Also, let's be honest--most road shoes are hideous).

I bought these because my last pair of shoes had laces which got caught in the crank a couple of times road biking. They were also Shimano brand, and had served me well for about 6000 miles.

I replaced them with these. They are stiff enough to provide good leverage, and have an excellent ratcheting buckle.

For the price an excellent shoe. They have a nice grippy sole (no direct cleat contact) so I no longer am in danger of slipping on tile like with my last shoes. You certainly wouldn't want to walk far in them, but for hike a bike they work fine.

My only complaint is that they are quite heavy -- but at this price that is to be expected.

These are great shoes matched with Shimano SM-SH56 Multi Release SPD Cleat and Shimano XT PD-M780 Clipless Pedals. They look great, feel great when riding, work well to walk in when stopping for coffee or a drink while biking. This is my first clipless set and I can get out of them very easy by moving my heal any direction, yet they provide a lot of power. Great 3 item match and setup. I have a Giant Road Bike (DEFY 1).

Comments about Shimano M162 SPD Shoes:

I bought these shoes because they seemed like a good value and the width fit well. I tried them on at a LBS and decided the 47 was the size for me (I wear a 12 running shoe). After wearing them on the trail a few times I think the 46 would've been a better choice. That's my fault though. Seem a little heavy, but not a deal breaker for me cause I'm heavy too :-)
