Awesome
These are awesome. I like being clipped in, but I also like to be able to bail at the last second when needed. Always better to be able to put your put down on the ground, as opposed to your face.
I crank my pedal tension down pretty tight, to prevent false releases.

Life Savers!
I love these cleats so much. I have no problem with the single-direction cleats under normal circumstances when I can instinctively unclip. But these make unclipping as natural as using old fashioned pedals. Anytime I've even started falling, or been hit by another biker or an unexpected anything these come unclipped the millisecond you move your feet in any direction other than pedaling. They have saved me many times from injury and would use nothing else. These never come unclipped unless I wanted them too, whether I knew it or not! :)

Great easy realease cleat
Use these with Shimano M162 SPD Shoes. These are great shoes matched with Shimano SM-SH56 Multi Release SPD Cleat and Shimano XT PD-M780 Clipless Pedals. They look great, feel great when riding, work well to walk in when stopping for coffee or a drink while biking. This is my first clipless set and I can get out of them very easy by moving my heal any direction, yet they provide a lot of power. Great 3 item match and setup. I have a Giant Road Bike (DEFY 1).

Works for me
Bought these for my first set of SPD clipless pedals to make sure they would release easily. They work great! Not sure that they are different than the cleats that came with the pedals except that these are chrome plated and the OEMs are painted flat black. I figured I would need a replacement pair at some point so might as well start off with cleats that I know will release easily, then I will try the OEMs for the next change.

Perfect for new to clipless rider
I got these to pair up with my new shimano SPD pedals when giving clipless pedals a second (third actually) try. These are exactly what I needed to boost my confidence and make my brain stop telling me "what if you can't unclip". I have the tension backed way off the pedals and these on my shoes. Let me tell you, if you need to get your foot out with these, you will. As my confidence and comfortable with these improves I will be tightening the tension up, and possibly switching back to the single release cleats, but for now these are perfect for me.

I was a die hard Flat pedal rider and NEVER thought I would switch to clipless.

If you're new to...
If you're new to clipless pedals, or feel unsure in the regular type of cleats, I would suggest these multi release cleats. I had a couple of lets completely stop but forget we are clipped in moments and I was still able to break loose without falling and eating a dirt lunch. I think I'll use these multi releases instead of the regular cleats due to this fact alone. It puts you at ease knowing you can bail if the need arises without having to tap your heels three times and whatnot...

Works for cycle/spin class
I have zero experience with bikes outside of the cycle/spin classes at my gym, so I was pleasantly surprised at how easy these were to attach to my shoes! They work perfect!

Complete Package
This one comes with the washer plate in the middle. Other places will sell them without, so be careful. Jenson has the best price (as usual).

Great option
I bought these cleats with my first pair of clipless pedals and I think it's a great way to ease into the clipless world. They make it a bit easier to get out of the pedals, but I probably would just recommend these to someone who's new to clipless and wouldn't recommend these for serious mountain biking or racing. Definitely a great option that makes it easier to unclip from your pedals.

New to clip less. Is SH56 cleat same as SH51? Description say multi release. Or do I need to buy SH51 cleats?
JC on Jul 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No they're not the same cleats. With the SH51, you twist your heel outwards to unclip. With the SH56, you twist your heel in ay direction. The downside of the SH56 is they may accidentally release when you pull up on the pedals.
