I refer to these as my winter shinnies as they are the hottest things ever. I wouldn't want to wear these on a hot day. Big plus on the wrap around as they protect the back of the ankle from pedal strikes (if you are like me and get squirrely often). I can see how the fit could be an issue. I got lucky and they stay up but if the fit is not perfect I can see how they would slide down solely based on all of the sweat generated between your legs and the pads.

These DO NOT stay up at all. At the end of each run, the only thing covering my knee cap was the Velcro strap. I sent them back after one day of use.
