Smith orchestrated their latest opus of an mtb helmet, the Rover, to essentially increase the industry's expectations when it comes to comfort and protection. The Smith Route Mips Helmet features MIPS technology, which can provide more protection in certain impacts. The Rover utilizes Smith's tried and true Aerocore construction fused with a Koroyd shell to hone in on vulnerable impact areas. The finished product provides excellent protection, proper comfort, and optimal ventilation. Great for warm rides, the AirEvac and VaporFit systems assure that air flows efficiently, and that the helmet has a comfortable and confident fit. The Rover fits nicely into the new age of mtb, providing riders with an experience surpassing most, if not all, prior expectations.

What I love: the internal padding is minimalist, the MIPS protection(which unfortunately I needed on a previous helmet), air flow, the strap fit and adjustibility, and the looks.
What I don't like: the non adjustable visor - though I knew this when I purchased it. I opted for this model over the Forefront(which I also love) due to the cost(approx $120 less money). This is why I rated as 4 stars instead of 5.
Really light and stylish helmet. I would have kept mine, but sent it back after trying it on due to the cradle part of the retention system. It is made of really thin plastic and when resting against the back of your head it feels like something sharp is touching you. If you have longer or thicker hair, probably wouldn't bother you. But for me with hair that is cut very short in the back, it was quite noticeable. I'm of the opinion if a helmet doesn't feel good when you first try it on, you shouldn't get it. Otherwise one of the best mountain helmets aesthetically I've seen. It sits a bit more on top of you head than around your head, so subjectively speaking may provide less coverage than some of the other brand options.
Good fit and comfortable but as soon as I got onto trail I noticed right away visor blocked view. I ride tight treed trails and brushed a low hanging branch and moved my helmet sideways and busted 2 of the mips clips. The helmet worked properly but they should give you a dozen mip clips. Now the helmet is junk:(
