Comments about Sram 3.0 Comp Twist Shifter:
I purchased these to work with a Sram X-3 rear derailleur that came off another bike. I installed them on an older full suspension mountain bike with a Sram 850 32-11 cassette.
They work well. Sharp shifting, light hand pressure, and the ability to dump gears across the full cassette in a half rotation of the crank. Just don't expect much respect from component snobs. These are the same shifters that come on your pappy's comfort cruiser.
The downside? The flange that houses the guts of the shifter is higher on these grippies versus the Shimano compatible grip-shift. There is a ridge right where the knuckle of my thumb rests while riding. After four hours, I had a nasty popped blister on my thumb. Will likely try repositioning the shifter farther in and/or replacing the included grips with longer ones. Included grips have very little recess. They get slick with sweat, even with gloves.
