I was replacing a shifter that distinegrated on a friend's kid's bike. This installed quickly and easily right out of the bag. And it adjusted even quicker!

Had I known it would be this easy, and for a good price, I would have replaced the rear shifter too. As it is, I know what I'm buying for her when/if she breaks the rear shifter.

Comments about Sram MRX Comp Shifter:

My bike was stolen and recovered, thoroughly abused, with the front grip shifter destroyed. This was purchased to replace it, and it installed in five minutes flat - peel off the handgrip and washer, loosen one Allen bolt, slip the old unit off, slip the new unit on, tighten one Allen bolt, run the cable and fasten the end.

It shifted correctly the first time, and needed minor tightening to tweak it up, but that was all.

Comments about Sram MRX Comp Shifter:

I'd used Sram Grip Shifters in the past (on a mountain bike I'd modified for road tours), so when the left-side Shimano shifter on my '99 Specialized Hard Rock Comp jammed up, I decided to replace it with this Sram MXR Comp Shifter. The shifter was surprisingly easy to install and adjust. I also replaced the handlebar, left-side brake lever and both hand grips at the same time. My old bike rides like new!

Works well with Shimano derailleurs -- don't have a lot of choices if you're a staunch GripShift user and want to use a Shimano derailleur you've got laying around.

          Great Shifter

Comments about Sram MRX Comp Shifter:

I don't know why more people dont use grip-shifters...oh well. These rock, and work just as good as pricier grip shifters - seriously. There is no 'magic' technology that makes others better - it's all grip shape and the rest is bells and whistles.

Comments about Sram MRX Comp Shifter:

Very cheap way to upgrade an older bike with downtube friction shifter. Just make sure you use a Shimano, Microshift, or non "X" SRAM rear derailleur for compatibility.

Comments about Sram MRX Comp Shifter:

Use the 8-speed version together with a Shimano Deore Derailleur and it works great... shifts no problem, no missed shifts etc. I used to have a 7-speed older model and this one does seem a little cheaper in construction (has a bit of a springy operation compared to the older model), but what do you expect for the price. It's cheap, it works... need more?
