Pros:
This is a fully plated chain, which means that it takes a lot of abuse to get it to rust. Of course, it shifts well and has a PowerLink connector to boot, so installation and removal is greatly simplified.
Cons:
Fully plated chains are not cheap (relatively speaking, within their speed rating) but they do perform more than admirably. The stock grease that SRAM chains come in is one of the best, but is also exceedingly sticky. Give the chain a quick wipe down on the outside before you ride, and you can preserve the lube a little longer than normal.
Bottom Line:
After ruining one chain during a particularly rainy/slushy/salty winter, I sprung the extra for a fully plated chain, and now I won't buy any other. With proper care, it will, quite simply, last longer. Remember to lube your chain after rain, and clean it when you get home.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I use this chain on my Commuter Bike, another on my MTB, and 2 more on my 20" and 24" BMX Racing bikes. This is an excellent all around chain - smooth shifting and very storng. Basically the same as the PC-850 and the PC-870 in functionality, but this model has all surfaces (inner and outer links) plated.

Is this chain functionally better than a PC-850? Maybe not, but it sure is pretty. It looks so nice on my hybrid, I just ordered a second one as a spare. I could swear is runs smoother than a PC-850 when I run the drive train when the bike is on the repair stand. Like all SRAM chains, be sure to wipe off all of the Gleitmo lube SRAM soaks their chains in. I'm sure it's a wonderful lube but it is also the stickiest stuff on the planet. Not too much of a problem on the road, but off-road it's a real grit magnet. I've pedaled almost 15k miles in the past 4 years, on 3 bikes, so I go through some chains. This one is a winner. I'm going to make jewelry out of it when it's worn out.
