This was very easy to install, setup, and fine-tune (actually, it required very little tuning!) I was very impressed with how easy this was to get up and running. For the money, I don't think it can be beat. It works great with the rest of my setup too (SRAM Red shifters, Shimano 6700 cassette, SRAM 1051 chain). I use it mainly for commuting, but I've done some competitive riding in the past, and I'm confident this would do extremely well or that, or training, or pretty much anything else you can throw at it. The only thing I can't really comment on is how it responds to truly gnarly stuff (mud, snow/ice, etc.) I highly recommend this, though. You won't be disappointed!

I haven't had the chance to install mine yet but I have the same SRAM Rival component on my old bike so I know how well this product works. Shift smoothly and accurately. It might not be as light as SRAM Force or Red, but definitely the same high quality that you can get for this price.

You used to have to pick two, now there is Sram Rival.

I've been using this with a 105 12-27 cassette for two months and it shifts flawlessly.

I recommend Sram to everyone on my club rides. Everyone on the team ride already has it.

When building up my new bike, I decided to take the gamble and leave what I know (Shimano) and give SRAM a try. Glad I did. Way cheaper, especially replacement parts, great looking, and the action is superb.

I like that SRAM uses all the same technology in its different component levels, just higher-tech and lighter materials the higher and more expensive you go. That way, you get the same feel and action, no matter what level you buy.

Don't be afraid if you've never tried Sram. It sets up the same as any other derailleur.

I'm so happy that I chose to go with SRAM Rival over Shimano 105. I prefer the double tap shifting to the Shimano "Brifter" set up as well. I don't see how you can wrong with SRAM it's considered a slight step up from 105 but lower than Ultegra but this is published as lower weight than Ultegra 6700 RD and the lower end SRAM is supposed to function the same as the highest end SRAM components just with more weight.
