This is hands-down the best derailleur I have ever used on a mountain bike. The Type II is well worth the extra money and the very slight weight penalty.
It shifts with precision. Set up the chain length correctly, and it is silent. No chainslap on my 2x10 setup.
Note: I have this on a hardtail, so I have not experienced the same "clunk" as the previous reviewer. That probably comes from the fact that the clutched cage action takes some effort to start moving. But that is one of the things that makes it so great.

Crisp mechanical gear changes indicative of x0 Quality. However the type 2 clutch design creates an extreme annoying/concerning 'knock' when suspension is compressed. Possibly due to resistance of chain grown before it gives way in the form of a 'knock'…otherwise it's a great product

Best upgrade I've made on a bike in years, it's nice bouncing through the rough stuff and not hearing clank clank clank. It works as described, and is the same high quality as all of srams XO Components. The 30 grams extra is a reasonable tradeoff for the added performance.
