I laced this hub for a set of wheels for my commuter bike. I liked the unique aspect of having an internal gear hub with a coaster brake on a lightweight bike, but it left some to be desired. While it is simple, it isn't suited for heavy use. The brake is poor and doesn't cut it for a heavier rider when you really need brakes (going down hill or in city situations). Plus after about 3000 miles, it started to have issues. I rebuilt the hub, but without replacing a lot of parts, it never worked quite right.

fabulous. well worth the extra money over finding a used "AW" and wondering what it's been through. It also has the modern standard flange width, so building with modern spokes works better. And really, it shifts so positively. I guess all the return springs are new, and that matters. It's the least fussy bike I've ever ridden.
