Surly Dirt Wizard 26 X 2.75" Tire

Surly Dirt Wizard 26 x 2.75" Tire

The Surly Dirt Wizard tire features an aggressive tread focused on traction and control in loose and varied terrain, with beveled leading edge dual row knobs in the center and well-spaced, siped edge knobs to dig into loose corners. Designed to be run on 50mm rims, the 2.75˝ casing inflates to about 27.5˝ overall diameter, meaning you get some benefits of a larger diameter tire like ground approach angle and more footprint, with the stoutness and easier maneuverability of a smaller diameter tire, plus some extra pneumatic cushioning. Minimum rim size for these bad boys is 35mm.

Features:

  • 26" wheel size
  • ETRTO: 559mm
  • Minimum rim width: 35mm
  • Folding bead: 120tpi, 850g
  • Wire bead: 27tpi, 1070 g

Comments about Surly Dirt Wizard 26 X 2.75" Tire:

After my first ride on this tire, it is my new favorite. The grip is confidence inspiring! My climbing was not slowed a bit over the Maxxis Minion DHF I was running (also a great tire). The ride was all fire road with a wide mix of surfaces ranging from hard-pack to very loose gravel from sand all the way to tennis ball sizes rocks.

Still dreaming for a 26+ tire

Pros

  • Lightweight

Cons

  • Side wall is way too thin for aggressive riding

Best Uses

  • Casual Riding

Comments about Surly Dirt Wizard 26 X 2.75" Tire:

Not sure what this tire would be suited for. Thin sidewall cannot support lower pressures required to make this product suitable for even moderate use. Too prevent tire from folding over in a turn, you must add too much air pressure resulting in a big balloon tire with low traction.

Comments about Surly Dirt Wizard 26 X 2.75" Tire:

Tire has been quite durable, over 400 miles of rocky AZ desert. Relatively lightweight for size. Would definitely buy again, just wish there were a few other choices. Running between 13-16 psi tubeless on the front.

Comments about Surly Dirt Wizard 26 X 2.75" Tire:

I rode that tire on my mountain unicycle for a month and I got 4 flats. Usualy the pressure I ride is between 15-20 psi max. With this tire I still got a pinch flat at 25 psi. Each and evrytime the tire get a hit hard enough to "touch" the rim I got a flat. I'm going back to DH specialized tires.

Comments about Surly Dirt Wizard 26 X 2.75" Tire:

I am disappointed in only one thing and that is the fact that the tire is constructed in China.
Riding on gravel and pavement the tire has great performance. It will sing a gentle tune on pavement but roll very smoothly with no significant resistance for the mean bite it has off road.
