Surly nailed the geometry on this frame, the long wheelbase and gentle angles make the LHT super comfortable to ride; it really will have a smile accross your face every time you take it for a spin.
I've set mine up as my primary means of transportation/commuting with just a rear rack for now, and the braze-ons are perfect. I've had this thing loaded up with about 75 lbs of cargo, and it still handles and drives like a dream; it's a workhorse.
Strip the bags and rack off, and I can hang on 30 mile rides with people riding road specific's with skinny tires and road gearing (I'm not blasting past them, but I can hang).
Get this bike if you want something that can do it all and make you happy while you're doing it.

Nothing rides like this bike. Long wheel base, strong shock absorbing frame and fork, extremely comfortable ride. You won't break any speed records with this bike but you will arrive refreshed after a long day in the saddle. Got rid of my Aluminum and Carbon framed bike after getting this one, can sit on this bike all day and feel fine afterward, not so with other bikes I've owned.

I use the Shimano SC105 component package with triple front gear set. I absolutely love this bike. It's not fast or nimble. It's not a racer. But I can ride it all day and still walk come evening. The steel frame absorbs a lot of road vibration. Much smoother than aluminum
