Teravail Cannonball 700C Tire

Teravail Cannonball 700c Tire

For the toughest days on gravel.

Not all gravel is created equal. Some gravel is born for serving the incredibly foul and sinister purpose of shredding tires. Small razor-sharp bits of flint rock lie in wait to foil an unsuspecting cyclist’s ride and bring a perfectly good time to an unnatural halt. The Terevail Cannonball 700c brings it’s own defenses for rides such as these. Employing an intentional tread design and additional fibers that are two times stronger than kevlar between the outer rubber and the inner casing to deflect these pointy foes, letting the ride finish as it should.

Features:

  • Tubeless-compatible for traction and comfort
  • Intentional tread design for maximum traction, rolling resistance and puncture protection
  • Additional in-casing flat protection

Testimonial

Sean Mailen, Salsa Engineer, Endurance Cyclist, 9th Place Finisher, 2015 Dirty Kanza

"The DK200 is always a challenge and 2015 served up the biggest one yet with an epic muddy disorder. Record-setting rain the weeks prior meant miles of Kanza roads had been turned into wartime, muddy trenches. This meant I needed a tire capable of not only handling the DK flint that loves to slice tires, but also something that could float and give me some traction in the muddy stuff. The Cannonballs did an amazing job with the flint. They never flatted, and they helped me survive the miles of peanut butter mud. I came to trust them quickly and this allowed me to use the 38mm tubeless width to float over the rocky sections. These great tires helped me to 9th place and kept me rolling all day in “less than ideal” conditions!"

Killer Tires!
I've been looking for a while for a tubeless filetread for racing cross here on SoCal's dry, dusty, and hardpacked terrain. These tires were expensive, but options are limited so I took a shot with them.

These tires are exceptional! They seated right up on my Stan's rims and held air-tight before I even added sealant. While I'm still experimenting with tire pressure, they have not burped air once yet even in aggressive corners during races. The traction is much better than I expected too. The side knobs hook up well in corners, even on training rides on some local singletrack.

These Teravales may be a bit pricey, but the performance is top notch!

Gravel grinding
The Cannonball has been specifically designed for long gravel races. A hundred miles of gravel this summer in Kansas and I am planning in zero tir failures. I am a big guy so the terrain coupled with 270 pounds is tough on tires and I am counting on these to get me through.

PROS: Ride Specific, Durable

Not worth it.
Way overrated. These tires are terrible for cornering at all with almost no tread along the edges. They aren't noticeably fast in flat and skid when slowing down. Don't waste your money just because they are the "official " dirty kanza tires, that's just advertising. Dirty Kanza is sponsored by Salsa, QBP owned and QBP also owns Teravail.
